Raev Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Ok, I'll admit it. I love hitting pawn shops and flea markets. I like looking for eclectic little goodies and hidden treasures. Anyone else? If so, share your favorite places. One that I tend to hit regularly is the Taylor Town flea market. It has no regulations on what can and can't be sold there, so you can find REALLY interesting items from time to time. You just have to be willing to sort through a LOT of junk to find your treasures. For those who like to collect things with the square-and-compass on them..for some reason this place is a gold mine. I find something EVERY time I go. Pawn shops are also fun but I really like to avoid the ones inside of Detroit.
Raev Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 I love Taylor Town! It's part of my lazy Sunday ritual lol.
Simon Bar Sinister Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Dixieland Flea Market is about a 3-mile drive from here...although I only seem to go there when I need another $2 Velcro-clasp wallet.

TitsMcGee Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Does garage sale hunting count lol. I do that in the summers, I can find all sorts of neat craft things.
prick Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 I go to both Gibralter trade center. Silver quill antique store in Warren. Warren trade center and this cool antique store in North Warren that has a bit of everything.
Nightgaunt Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 The Royal Oak Farmer's Market has a flea market on Sundays. I just heard about the Warren flea market, Prick. Let me know if you want to hit it sometime. Er, the flea market, that is.
Msterbeau Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 I like yard sales better. Typically a better price and more variety, even though you have to drive around a bit. Certain neighborhoods have better stuff than others. Ann Arbor was always excellent.

The time we usually went there was when they'd have their carnival.
Simon Bar Sinister Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 (edited) I don't know if any of our local colleges do this, but I have a freind who lives by the MSU campus, and he furnished his living room with items he picked up from their salvage/resale shop. He also got a SMPTE sync device for $4. freydis: do they ship? website? that sounds like a potential steampunk paraadise. Edited April 6, 2010 by SpammerOvTheGods

Msterbeau Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 We should have a DGN Yard Sale/Flea Market day. Everyone goes out to whatever sales or places they want, then meet for dinner to see who got the coolest things. Then off to City to cap the evening.
