Fierce Critter Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Alrighty. Nightline last night was all about this. Here's my poor memory version. Basically, Egypt got squat the first time around. Not fair? They think so. So in order to make sure they don't get the short end of the stick this time, the tour is being handled by an actual concert promoter. Each venue has to basically guarantee or front $5 million dollars. Thus, there are 5 stops planned - they might be mentioned on your link. Thus the admission price of $20-$30 +, depending on the venue. The Metropolitan Museum of Art would have been one of the stops. But their policy is strictly donations - so they had to pass on it. As for the DIA, who knows if they were even considered. If they were, chances are they couldn't guarantee the $5 million requirement. There was some debate by the talking heads on Nightline over whether charging admission and handling something like this is cool or not. Depends on your point of view. I wouldn't pay that much to see most concerts these days. But I personally would pay to see this. Too bad I won't be living anywhere near any of the exhibitions when it's here.
Homicidalheathen Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 The last time they did stop here I remember seeing it and it was awsome. In my plant spirit journey group Dr Dale rai-lina, and I are always visiting in the astrial places of ancient egypt. I think we were together there in a past life.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I've always had a bit of interest in Egyptology but never really "got into it" too much. I usually watch all the Egypt documentaries and such that come along. To bad its not stopping at the DIA.
Black Sunday9 Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 King Tutankhamun.....I so wanted to see this when I heard it was a "tour". Can you believe they only found his mummy is the 1920's? I would have paid up to $25 for this, I would have rather seen this than most concerts. Shame. So was he murdered or not?
Paper Hearts Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 The DIA is under rennovation at the moment. Remember that they have all of their most important paintings in one room and are marketing that "the greatest hits of the DIA" because of construction...i really miss late Firdays at the DIA...Chicago's not far though...
