gladcarrot Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 I'm driving to Toronto on Friday for the Massive Attack concert and I like to check out goth clubs in other cities. Has anyone been to Savage Garden? It seems like my best option for Friday. http://www.savagegarden.ca/
jynxxxedangel Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 http://www.toronto-goth.com/ This looks like a promising source of information...
gladcarrot Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 (edited) Bummer. Thanks for noticing it closed. They should post that on the top of their site! I might have realized that had I not been looking at it in a very small browser window to avoid getting caught using the internet at work. I also couldn't find a goth club in Portland, Seattle, or Vancouver. Found one in LA, Chicago, and Atlanta though. Thanks for that link jynxxxedangel! Edited May 4, 2010 by gladcarrot
*Siren* Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 I've heard some pretty bad things about the Bovine Sex Club. That place and it's patrons have a pretty bad reputation, but I haven't been there so I can't say for sure that the rumors are true. Savage Garden was decent, but small. It's a shame they closed the place.
PlasticPassion_a2 Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Went to this place Velvet Undergound after the Depeche Mode concert last year (also on a Friday night) and though it looks incredibly cool inside (very goth), they were playing top 40 80s music (think "love shack" and "come on eileen") that night. I do recall them not having any cover charge though, which was definitely a bonus.
DJ Saint Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Torontos scene used to be one of the best and now it's very very quiet there. Savage Garden is closed sadly. So is BigBop/Reverb (where they used to do the Dark Rave events). And Fun Haus closed in 2008. Those were the places to go. 10 Years ago there was a club called Area 51 - managed to visit there twice and never left the dance floor as the DJ's were unbelievable and their music selections just amazing. The first place I ever heard industrial beat-matched long before anyone/everyone was doing it. Stay away from Bovine Sex Club... Wish I had more info for ya...
Eevee Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 I don't even know why anyone would find "Bovine Sex Club" appealing either way...
Epic_Fail_Guy Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I don't even know why anyone would find "Bovine Sex Club" appealing either way... I was thinking the same thing actually... It sounds like an undergound secret place where weirdo Canadian farmers can get their freak on with livestock!
*Siren* Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 From what I've heard from some friends in Toronto, everything has closed down.
phee Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 From what I've heard from some friends in Toronto, everything has closed down. This is true.... I used to visit "Sanctuary" every time I went.... *sigh* but it went away.... Queen Street used to be the shizznick
DJ Nocker Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Savage Gardens was a cool place, although very small..I am pretty sure that the scene is small there now, I heard there is a monthly realgoth/deathrock thing though, that was when savage gardens was still open so its probably gone to. Just go shopping instead, there are some neat shops.
Simon Bar Sinister Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 fuck the T-O goth scene - I'd love to see Massive Attack again!
Onyx Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 From what I've heard from some friends in Toronto, everything has closed down. Damn! From what I saw when I visited (which was about 7 years ago) it used to be huge :( I had so much fun on that trip.
*Siren* Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Just go shopping instead, there are some neat shops. This is true. Northbound Leather has some amazing stuff, but they are very expensive. There are also a lot of decent shops on Queen Street. I always liked Hell's Belles, but I don't know for sure if they are still there.

*Siren* Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I have an AMAZING blue and black latex shirt from Northbound... I have a weakness for Northbound. I have to hand over my credit cards to a friend every time I go there because I will end up spending way too much.

*Siren* Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I know EXACTLY how you feel... Sadly, all of my outfits from Northbound are too small for me now. This makes me want to cry.
