Dad was just talking about doing some target practice. It's been a while since we've done that, but last time I was still a damn good shot. I've known how to shoot since I was about 6 years old. One of the only perks of living in BFE.

Algonac state park has an archery range and a skeet shooting area. You have to bring your own skeet throwers but AI have two. You can also take a walk in the woods and shoot rifles and pistols once your past the safety zone. Either that or we split these up into deifferent days.

Bump

So I have a couple (a 9 mm and .22 cal) and belong to an atheist shooting group called "Godless Gunnies" (of which you don't have to be atheist to attend) and we have monthly shoots.

We're setting up our next shoot soon too, if anyone is interested LMK.  Would also be fun to set up a DGN specific shoot too.  Just checking to see if there is still any interest.

I just have a High Point 40 right now.  I need to adjust the sights on it.  I am hoping to rebuild my collection someday.

Intentionally got a .22 handgun just in case the uber-depression hits I won't be tempted to try and kill myself with it  (too much risk of just getting hurt and pissed off lol)  but its a full size
"looks like a 9mm or a .45" body (Smith & Wesson)

Wait, you mean I, too can own a gun? Because I get scared I'd use it too. I still have not found away to stop those pesky sleep paralysis bitches. Lol

Okay, so here's the thing, gun ownership requires serious consideration.  Before you consider OWNING a gun you have to seriously think about two things.

#1. Will I actually be able to pull it in self defense and use it on another living human being if they're threatening my life or the life of someone else?  If the answer to this is no YOU SHOULD NOT OWN A GUN!  Mostly because they might take it from you and use it on you/others.

#2. If I get depressed and feel suicidal will I be seriously tempted to use it on myself?  If the answer is yes YOU SHOULD NOT OWN A GUN!  Of course people have still gone to the range and rented one to do it there, but there is just something about having it handy all the time.

I love guns, but even I admit they aren't for everyone.  That said, you don't need to OWN a gun to come to the range and shoot.  We have plenty of them, you can borrow one (or rent one from the range if they allow it.)

Also, honestly I don't like .22 for self defense because even though it's scary if someone has conviction and calls your bluff, unless you're a good shot and can get a head shot they'll most likely survive to continue their attack (or they'll survive and sue you later in court, which is why most people say shoot to kill.)
