st_masey Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 He was far from great, but very original and influential. His artwork seemed to exist as an extreme counterpoint to mature art, which in a way makes it just as significant as the crafts of good artists. At least for what it brings to conversation. You could even call him the Rembrandt of low-brow.
pomba gira Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 He is creating brave warriors to escort Lena Horne to the land of the ancestors!
creatureofthenyte Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 So that's who did all those posters I used to see in the store years ago... damn.

He's a master of mood and atmosphere, of anatomy and indication of detail without getting too bogged down in it. That he occupies only a niche in the art world is no stain against his talent.
phee Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 He was definitely a Pioneer of the Fantasy Art genre.... As well as the cause of many a tween geeks masturbation.....
