Do you think I am wise by going to alternative medical practitioners instead of M.D.s to make myself better?

Thank you!

I'm taking my DSM-IV class in the fall, and I won't be a licensed therapist until 2012.

It depends on what it's for. For a chronic condition, I'd have to say no. Otherwise, I say give it a go and see if it helps, and if it doesn't, go back to the M.D.'s. But if you go back to the M.D.'s, make sure you aren't seeing the "C" student. They take too long to find out what's wrong, and cost you tons of money in the process.

Unfortunately, no. It would be unethical because I know you. But, I would get to know other therapists, and I would be able to refer you to someone that I would know and trust.

I can always talk to you as a friend though :)

Dear Bean,

My mother has recently received a rash of calls from credit companies looking for my ex-husband. Should I notify his mother, the adoptive parent of our biological child, that he falsified information to the credit companies claiming my mother's home address and phone number as his? I worry that his mom might already be dragged into the mess and it will affect my daughter, but I fear also that if I say anything, she might feel that I am being vindictive. What say you?

What a mess! What has your mother told the credit companies? If she hasn't done this already, she needs to tell them that he is not at that address and phone number. As far as notifying his mother, I don't know that she could really do anything, other than tell him to take care of the situation (and how likely is it that he would do that?). If you think that it will do more harm than good, then I would leave her out of, especially if the well being of your child is at stake. You may also want to contact a lawyer that does free consultations to see if there is anything that can be done legally.

Dear Bean.

If you get what you want, and you want what you get, is the getting as good as the wanting; or is the wanting as bad as the getting?

Both, except when X=12.
