Steampunk Music

Finding more and more bands that are either being classified as Steampunk, or are loved by Steamfolks. This seems to cover styles that range from actual punk, to bubbly cabaret, to electronic stuff with a 'vintage' bent to it....

Post em as you find em. I'll be doing this for the next hour, I have a feeling....

I with this track, I find it interesting they're considered steam fandom, because there's not much here that evokes victoriana imagery, dystopian futures, or neverwas history... but hey, they do sound pretty good.

Shouldn't this music only be played on instruments available during the Victorian age? I suppose they could use their electronic variations, but only powered by a small steam engine?

Not necessarily... the steampunk thing, it seems to be more of an ornate and Victorian spin on technology, not necessarily taking place in the past... but if technology had developed in a way that keeps the style of the past.

A big part of steam punk are airships, rayguns, mechanical people, etc...

Abney Park is a good example, they work with electronic music.

I love the fact that people can get creative and combine the swing style with electro and industrial sounds.
