Each neighborhood in the D is like it's own little city, with it's own environment and rules. Even when those of us from the D itself (as opposed to being from metro area), when we talk it's always "I'm from the D over in suchandsuch hood.

I so agree with this I grew up in southwest too just off of springwells not to far from the Mickey D's and even thought I dont live there anymore I get asked where'd ya grow up and I still answer Southwest Detroit not just Detroit.

I agree, Southwest is just like it's only town, I tell people the same thing about where I grew up, I still go down there too. I grew up on Central between Dix and Pitt, I was across the street from Milo's bar. I also lived over by Bayside on Colonial, and over on Longworth, Gardner, Pearl, and the Florida/McGraw area. We used to walk to Family Treat or McDonald's all the time.

I always tell people Im from north Warren so the realize Im in the good part. The upper middle class near Sterling hgts and not the Warrentucky part. People dont realize its the states third largest city and it changes quite z bit.

Can I win for smallest town since Posen doesn't even have a stop light, or even one of those blinking lights?
