Record Time closing

I was really disappointed when the Ferndale location closed, as that was the one that was easier to get to from when I lived at the time. I still stop into the Gratiot location occasionally (admittedly, not as often as I would like....) and this is really sad news. We're running out of record stores 'round here....

NOOOO!!!!

I stop in there to browse their obsolete industrial section all the time! :crybaby: Such a staple of the 90s is being pulled out of the pages of our history. No idea why I chose to use an office-oriented analogy, but I guess it works.

Just in the last month there I picked up some KMFDM, FLA, and F242...

I used to work for Mike Himes and was the first buyer for the Ferndale store. I must say, he managed to last a lot longer than he thought he would. He was seriously worried about losing both stores as early as 2002.

That sucks, I used to go to the East Detroit one back in the old days.I bought my first industrial music record there which was the front 242 headhunter 12" extended play single.

Another victim of this shit hole economy. We've seen too many places like that close its doors since around 2005.

Got a lot of good stuff there cheap. I hope they just re-open, perhaps in a smaller scale in the city of Detroit. All of that cheap leasing, take advantage, Detroit needs more record stores.

UHF just opened in Royal Oak, record stores close, record stores open! UHF ain't too shabby either.
