I just turned on the news......shit

it is the "new center" area. it seems to be 3 blocks that are completely on fire. buildings are just crumbling to the ground. walls on fire just crashing down.

Posted

channel four was showing it and they were complaining about people down there having a "party attitude" over it... last i looked it was still on channel 7 and not at all on channel 2.

Posted

Yeah, I have it on 7 cause when I turned the t.v on it wasn't on any other channel....one of the fire guys said he didn't think it would be too bad....what?!

The news people are so dumb..."detroit firefighters are putting a lot of water on this fire.." ya think? the fire is HUGE...maybe detroit is burning down...

Damn I just hope nobody's getting hurt.

Posted

the news said there were no injuries...but 150 firemen are there fighting this thing...

Posted

They need to just let it burn.. along with the HP area too!

last night they made it sound and look like it was 3 blocks. now what i am reading makes the fire sound "not as bad" as what i was watching last night. when they were doing helicopter views that fire was MASSIVE. but i mean for it to burn from like 10 pm to 5 am - that's just damn crazy.

yeah watching the news and all the burning it sure looked like hell.

Looks like there is some good'ole detroit urban re-newl going on.....someone probably wanted to collect some insurance payout or payouts as the case may be.

Looks like the Nain Rouge struck again.

Anybody remember hearing about that? The Detroit fire back in the 1800s? It was believed that the Nain Rouge, aka Red Dwarf caused it.

Red Dwarf/ Nain Rouge is a 'Brownie-like' creature that was reported as having the appearance of an old man. It's not just myth either, many people have seen him. Usually shortly thereafter, something bad happens......

Here's some info...... http://members.tripod.com/~mainorg/nain.html

This sucks... that Piquette Meat Market was THE best place in town for down-home style meats... and that whole area is mad historic... the original Model T plant is there.

On the eve before Detroit city reports that they have chosen to close their Dept of Culture and Tourism in order that they can "save money", yet another important building is lost, although this time to normal rot and disrepair.

-Saves them the trouble of knocking it down I suppose...and it frees up all of those millions of dollars the federal govt provides them for rennovating these places for things like an SUV for the mayor's wife or destitute whores for the mayors parties.

i can't believe that in a place so callous as Detroit that this type of thing is reported for any other reason than for the ratings the 'shock value' of large fires grab (the bright, flashing tendrils of the inferno, the great cloud of smoke, the crashing of walls of brick and mortor, etc). It's a normal fucking day here.

I'm not really native to Detroit, per se, but I do know that it has a ton of history to it. It bites when you hear about a fire and it's near something historical, the only thing you can think of is hoping that nothing precious is damaged or lost.
