Brenda Starrr Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 I was having this really bad asthma attack just about 30 minutes ago. I think I killed my Albuterol inhaler. I had to call 911, and (wouldn't ya know it) the attack bagan to subside as they walked in the door. Sierra was being so strong. Then Wayne walked in the door, and she became mush. I'm just glad it wasn't like the last time I was rushed to the ER. That was so scary. Who else (besides me) has Asthma? What do you take for it? I'm just curious....
Nienna Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 I have pretty severe asthma. I've been on alot of different thing and up until recently, Advair was the way to go for me. I recently began taking Singulair and that works like a charm for both asthma and allergies in one pill. I find I need a constant "control" medication. I use Abuterol too for emergencies but I really have an attack maybe once a year if that. You may need to get onto something daily.
Brenda Starrr Posted June 22, 2005 Author Posted June 22, 2005 Here's my med list as of now: Singulair Zyrtec Albuterol Advair Rhinocort I know that Zyrtec and Rhinocort are for my allergies, but it's my allergies that bring on the attacks. I can't even imagine what else I can take for this.
Paper Hearts Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 i have asthma, Brenda. Firstly, I do not smoke. Have you quit yet, by the way? Secondly, I have no time for Doctor visits so I just use over the counter inhalers.
Brenda Starrr Posted June 22, 2005 Author Posted June 22, 2005 I haven't touched a ciggie in weeks (go me!)
Paper Hearts Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 I haven't touched a ciggie in weeks (go me!) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good. It'll get easier and your breathing will get better over the next 6 to 9 months.
Nienna Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Wow.. ok yours is worse than mine. When it's really kicking up I use a nebulizer with abuterol twice a day. Have you tried this?
Brenda Starrr Posted June 22, 2005 Author Posted June 22, 2005 Not yet. I'm asking my doc for it when I see him on the 7th.
Nienna Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Not yet. I'm asking my doc for it when I see him on the 7th. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It really works wonders, especially if I have bronchitis or something nasty like that. Also kills an attack WAY faster than an inhailor.
Brenda Starrr Posted June 23, 2005 Author Posted June 23, 2005 That's what I need....to kill it fast. I don't want the 911 people to get too used to me.
