Von Helsing

So, the critics hated it. I don't pay critics heed very much, I make up my own mind.

Let me just say this - for a movie so filled with action, cool characters, scenery & effects, I was awful frickin bored.

I really, really can't put my finger on it. I WANTED to love this movie. I like the Von Helsing character period, no matter who plays him. This was an interesting "Indiana Jones" twist on him as a younger man. I liked that part.

But I was just so BORED!

Would I recommend it? I really can't say. I ordinarily give pass/fail reviews on movies, being as how I'm pretty uncritical of film entertainment overall. With this one, I'm gonna have to go the grade route. Let's give it a C-minus.

Extras include commentary, bloopers (great fun), a history of Von Helsing (which would have been more interesting if it were actually a HISTORY of, rather than a brief, brief, brief historyofacouplepeoplewhoplayedthecharacterinthepast leading into a history of Hugh Jackman AS Von Helsing. A making of is also included, a featurette on how they did the monsters, some DVD Rom stuff I didn't bother with, etc.

My oldest daughter and I laughed uncontrollably at how stupid the dialogue was. I liked the clothes, but the script was a real stinker. Embarassing.
