n0Mad Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I'm wondering what game they're playing where they need to keep rolling a d6. Not D&D as that is a d20 for most things and the only time you need a d6 are for generating stats in the beginning, and rolling damage for fireballs, shortsword, short bow, etc. Heck, even healing spells use a d8. Unless they're playing Shadowrun or the West End Games version of Star Wars. Those both use d6s exclusively, but then why would they be dressed in fantasy garb? I'm so confused.

Maybe they made it D6, for artistic purposes?... It flows better

It's clearly Fantasy Yatzee.

That's sad that I pondered all of that in my head and then scrolled up and read that you already wrote it . I was going to call D6 shenanigans! Glory13666 Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Yeah, I think they used D6 for artistic purposes as stated above. They had the D&D book right on the table and it was a spoof of a song called, Roll a G6?? never heard of it but that's what the caption said. I wouldn't have ever known that D6 was wrong because I only played D&D once in my life. It was fun though:) My Ex-husband used to play a similar game called, "Talisman" all the time. I played with him until one day he cheated! He stole my magic sword!!!!! Grrrr! lol.
Destroit Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 (edited) The original song is by quirky Korean party-pop band, Far East Movement, and it's called "Like A G6". Thank you Bally's Total Fitness membership for constantly keeping me education in all of the current pop trends . Destroit Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 They are actually from California.... ethnicities ranging from China, Vietnam, Japan, Korea.... I should have put Korean-American, but I'm slow. Didn't know that about other ethnicities though, for some reason I was thinking they were entirely Korean-American. I should have put Korean-American, but I'm slow. Vater Araignee Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Had me scratching my head saying what does rolling any die have to do with LARPing? The closest I ever came was a version of rock paper scissors using colored beads. Three colors, each one beats the next. Say you had a level three whatever and the opponent had level two protection for that whatever. You pull out three beads in any color combination and the opponent pulls out two. Each single bead in you hand vs all the beads in theirs and the same for them. Who ever accumulates the most wins, succeeds. Damage is calculated on the difference in wins and 100% wins for the attacker = exceptional accuracy for extra damage but 100% losses = backfire for self inflicted damage. And we only did that for technical games, most of the time we relied on our actual skills and just swung, fired and threw things of course those where not really LARPing either.

The whole costume elements were when the audience took a journey into the players' imaginations.
Destroit Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 GEEK! I only play WoW now, so that makes me NuGeek. Timata won't get off his lazy shit and organize any table-top stuff. Still waiting to test run the prototype RPG he's been working on. I only play WoW now, so that makes me NuGeek. Timata won't get off his lazy shit and organize any table-top stuff.
