Paper Hearts Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 NEW CURE ALBUM NEXT SPRING The Cure will head into the studio this fall to begin working on its next album, according to Aversion.com. The veteran alternative rock act plans to start recording after the summer festival season wraps up, in either October or November, with a potential April release date in the works. The band's last effort, a self-titled affair, was released in 2004. The new album will feature the Cure's first new lineup in 10 years. Guitarist Porl Thompson returned to the group this summer, marking his third stint with the band. Thompson was with the group from 1976 to 1978, then logged a longer stay from 1983 through '93. Meanwhile, Cure guitarist Perry Bamonte and keyboardist Roger O'Donnell left the band in May.

And there will probably be more "breakup" rumours circulating around before then. I sincerely hope they put more effort into this new album. I wasn't very impressed by a lot of what was on that self-titled album from last year.
LuluVox Posted October 24, 2006 Author Posted October 24, 2006 I just want to point out that spring has long-since past. Where's my new Cure album, dammit?
Paper Hearts Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I just want to point out that spring has long-since past. Where's my new Cure album, dammit? This old topic! Shame on you. I cannot explain what went wrong with the new Cure album, passed due, but I can promise you a couple new Johnny Marr albums--the second from the Healers (also passed due for release) (if Johnny ever finishes it), plus the next album from his new band, Modest Mouse--due early 20 odd 7. As for new Cure stuff, they've just re-mastered The Glove, Blue Sunshine as part of a four album CD set, including Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, The Top and The Head On The Door. In other Mr Maher news, Johnny can be quoted as having mentioned that he has some plans to, at long last, publish transrciptions of The Smiths music. Johnny Marr is my only friend on myspace. Pathetic.
