Simon Bar Sinister Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 some Canadian douchebag wants to replace the beaver with the bear as the official national animal: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/story/2011/10/27/north-polar-bear-emblem.html
prick Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Not a big surprise. People talk of changing nayional or state whatevers all the time. Most dont realize the wolverine hasnt been our state animal for years because we didnt have any known wolverines to exist in the wild until a few years ago. They have pushed for years to make it the white tail deer. Some have a state insect, amphibian, reptile, and fungus. Some have more then us and some less then us. Do you know our state semi precious stone. Not our state stone, thats the petoskey but our precious stone? Its the Isle royal green stone.
torn asunder Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 i think it's a good idea - i mean, i'm really glad someone spoke up about ours. franklin (i think!?) wanted a turkey, fer crissakes! (oh, and i'll skip the comment i was gonna make about "beavers out"!!)

(oh, and i'll skip the comment i was gonna make about "beavers out"!!) Actually I understand Ben Franklins reasoning. He felt the turkey was tough, if you ever shoot one and try to pick it up and its still alive you will see how evil those spurs are. They are smart with keen sences. They are real hard to hunt. They also supply us with a great food source.
Fierce Critter Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Do you know our state semi precious stone. Not our state stone, thats the petoskey but our precious stone? (Facepalms at how very, very lost that reference will be on the general DGN population.) I knew this 'cause Jon sells petoskey and other rocks online and he got me a greenstone (aka chlorastrolite) pendant for my birthday last year.

Shaun Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Actually I understand Ben Franklins reasoning.
