LadyWindstone Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 I need to know what kind of lotion or oil to use on my cat that will help with dry skin. It makes her so itchy that she is starting to lose some of her fur. I know that her fur will grow back as soon as it clears up. I just want her discomfort to stop. Anyone have any advice that doesn't involve a vet at this time? I'm poor and really need some help with this. Thank you in advance.
Onyx Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 No personal experience, but maybe these sites have something. (also, is it possible the cat has picked up a few fleas? My cat drove herself crazy until I started using Frontline). This site claims apple cider vinegar will help http://www.chamomiletimes.com/articles/petskin.htm This one says it could be a problem other than dry skin: http://www.healthypet.com/library_view.aspx?ID=35&sid=1
Fierce Critter Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 You know, she might have ringworm. When I got Fletcher, he had it and gave it to the rest of the brood. We had to bathe every single cat several times with a special shampoo. They CAN pass it on to humans. So if you find circle-shaped lesions that itch on yourself, it's ringworm...
cptdeath Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 :fear where are you staying at location wise(for further diagnosis)? :fear ever see animal cops detroit don't catch a felony neighbors might want to be on t.v. it might have a medical condition called ???????? were the skin gets all dry the hair falls out and the animal lives in misery till it's put down mercifully. It is reversable with treatment and is usually just a nusince unless untreated. but hay it could be allergic to grass or something stupid or the glue in the carpet were it sleeps think enviromental also frontline is what we use for my cats it works great but don't put it on open sores or its extreamly painfull and your cat will become terified of you. frontline is good stuff also try catnip a little It will ease some suffering but it couses a hangover like e for a cat. use in moderation not everyday unless pain is to much Do you let your cat go outside? Has it been surgicaly modified for the homeowners conveinience?(declawed)? stress could be a leading factor your cat needs to live it's own life a little to give it a little freedom every now and then start small and it will probably learn selfworth. wich will help it feel more independent also cats have the capacity to learn respect give it some free will and some respect and see if it learns this will help. Some cats don't learn and natural selection takes it's course. Don't be sad just do what is best for em and hope that in some grim fairy tale your cat would treat it's pet windstone the way it wants and not have you lobotimized for it's conveinience. :fear please reply
Homicidalheathen Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I use sesame seed oil extra light for my oil herbal remedies. You dont have to worry about the cat licking it off just don't give it so much hair ball medicine anymore.
