One of my , if not my favorite author growing up, I learned a lot from his books and thought about things differently having had the privilege to read them.

If you haven't read The Martian Chronicles or 451 Fahrenheit I'd suggest you do so.

It is as if someone turned a light off in the universe. Or a planet has just disappeared. Whatever the case may be, something BIG has happened. Something sad and undeniable and impossible.

He is gone.

Gone.

I was fortunate to first read Something Wicked This Way Comes while listening to Arcade Fire's The Suburbs album which had just came out; it was kind of ironic, especially the song on there called Rococo which is mentioned several times as a typeface in the book.

His two key "masterpieces" Fahrenheit 451 and The Martian Chronicles were long on my list of auto-suggestions anytime anyone asked for book recommendations, although I've not pushed them quite so much in recent years as so much stuff has piled up on me.

The epilogue of Fahrenheit 451 has stuck with me for the last 2 decades, and I think some of what my current philosophy of life is, has come from that short chapter.

Plus he was big on the lost art of the short story, which I enjoyed his large body of short story work.

What?! He's dead? I know I'm out of the loop when it comes to the news but... Ouch. I love his stories. Especially when he was on television doing the Ray Bradbury Theater. I'm gonna miss him. No, I miss him.
