Assuming you believe in ghost and I do. I just wonder why do you think that some sprits linger about, haunting certain places refusing or being unable to pass into the beyond? I realize no one can give me the 100% right answer. But it would be interesting to think about.

shitty in life, linger like a bad fart in death.

Bad economy. There's nowhere to go to get a job. And the colleges are set up where you have to take more classes than necessary at the worst time possible for a ghost.

Well.....I guess those are some interesting answers.

they linger because they have nowhere better to go...

In my experience, I have found that some residual ghost are tied to an area by intense emotion...it is where an action becomes linked to a place like an emotional snapshot that replays the same way like a broken record stuck in a loop. The actual spirit is not there, just that moment in time. In that case, you can not interact with the ghostly images.

However, on the other hand, there is the intelligent haunting where a ghost is capable of manifesting. These spirits become trapped or refuse to leave a location due to an intense emotional impact caused by an action or having an emotional connection to a favorite object or location of incident. These ghosts can range from happy spirits to malevolent poltergeist. Their interaction depends on the type of ghost haunting the area and in what manner they came to be there.

Violent death, a sense of regret, the inability to depart from something that was cherished in life are just a few reasons for some documented hauntings. However, there is always the same warning when dealing with the realm of the disembodied...stay away from ouija boards. To the non-believer, it is just a harmless party favor. To the believer, it is a gateway to the spiritual realm that, once invoked, can open a flood gate that may involve the crossing over and manifestation of all types of spirits as well as that of demons.
