0pheliA Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 It is surreal to think I will be 38 in a few days. I have a very messed up sense of the flow of time, always have. I think that is largely where my patience comes from, the way time flows for me leaves me with no real sense of urgency. Weeks can pass and it feels like a few days, I can do things for hours and feel like no time has passed at all. I still feel like it should be the 90s. Not in a nostalgic sort of way, but in the way that I do not feel I have really experienced any passage of time since then. I was just thinking about this last night. This is why I often get so little accomplished ; this lack of a sense of urgency. I go to bed some nights and it is a week later, and I just have no clue where those days went. This effects everything in my life in horrible ways. I have a lot of trouble forming routines. I have trouble maintaining a tidy home while simultaneously being a neat-freak...which is particularly maddening. I can have a task or appointment coming up weeks away, and suddenly it is there the very next day and I haven't prepared. Often just to make sure I am ready for the event the next day I have to stay up all night.
kat (1) Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 This concerned me about you..that's why I was on you about the stuff we talked about (you know, I don't wanna put it on blast here on DGN but I think you know what I am referring too. The losing track of time thing can be a bit serious..it is a fugue state and can be a symptom of DID or it could be an acute stress issue, that's why I was on your ass about you know what all the time. Hugs, I hope you follow up.
Class-Punk Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 (edited) I've noticed for people who meditate a lot time can go faster or slower than what's normal for them. Trauma could also affect this. I think people form routines in relation to clocks and calendars rather than how they used to rely on the sun, so even though the modern concept of time is necessary for many people its also sort of unnatural and often neurotic.
