What To Make Of This?

Okay here it is. What if you were at someone's house and they offered to make dinner for you. You take them up on their offer and they go to the kitchen and start cooking stuff. So then when it is done you all sit down to eat. Then when your done eating ,and you get up from the table to help put the dirty dishes away; this person who offered to cook dinner for you says to you "I am going to stop cooking and you can just go out to eat somewhere if your hungry!" I mean what is a person to make of something like this? They offered to cook for you and now they are basically complaining because they cooked for you? I don't know what to say?

I'd start brushing up on witty comments so they would have a reason to feel justified in saying unprovoked stuff...
