I feel like police are not taught about dealing with people who have disabilities. In fact in Monroe county we had to start a program where the jail is staffed by County Mental health workers. Thankfully there are some COs who ask for training about dealing with different types of issues people with disabilities deal with. I know this is a little different I mean I'm sure he wasn't the first deaf person ever to have a police encounter. SMH😢 Edited August 22, 2016 by kat
Scary Guy Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 (edited) Trigger happy assholes. Just because someone fails to respond to commands doesn't mean they need to be met with deadly force. Pretty much all cops have tasers on them and even then they're told to treat it like a gun (because they can kill too). Many are given elevated training too so they know how to deal with mentally/physically disabled people. My guess is he didn't care. Edited August 29, 2016 by Scary Guy
sekhmet2002 Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 What a horrible incident. I can't believe the trooper just shot TO KILL just for hand gestures. Things are so wrong with some of the police officers in the country.
