As you all may be aware, I am trying to get my steampunk jewelry thing going.  I started a GoFundMe page to help since I have been struggling to really get things going.  Please share far and wide and let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

Got my first donation today from my mother.  I also did some organizing today and made a quick little Onyx and wire necklace pendant.

Here is the ring I have been working on.  Thinking of adding cogs around the band.

Don't forget to let us know how that turns out....loved those little gears and pieces you showed us at The Gathering.

Have you ever worked with epoxy or clear acrylic on miniature pieces?

It has been a long time.  I would have to get some new supplies but I could figure it out.  Did you have something in mind?

I forgot to post the finished product.  Here is the ring with cogs soldered on.

You may be interested to know that I am thinking of experimenting with using a similar technique used in stained glass to make sculptures out of burnt out light bulbs.

WOW!!! I see you already did it.  I had mentioned the epoxy and acrylic as adhering agents to assist with the ring, but I see you didn't need it.

I actually had to use epoxy to hold the stones a bit better.  I like to put my jewelry through a pretty rigorous wear ability test and I found that the stones weren't secure enough with the limited skills I have at the moment.  I used a needle to apply epoxy to the inside of the setting and re beveled  my setting the best I could.  It seems to be holding better now but I still feel that I need to practice a bit more.  I will make sure to bring it to the next gathering I attend so I can get your opinion once you see it in person.  I feel that pictures seem to make it difficult to see any flaws in jewelry which is sad because some of my pieces are ment to have what I call a rustic finish while others are more defined.

I figured out how to make a tube setting from a piece of brass dowel.  It is very difficult since I am using 3mm stones but I think it is worth it.  Here is one before final buffing and polishing.

Not much to report at the moment.  Still waiting on pieces I had to outsource for one project and working on the house has sort of slowed my production down for the moment.  I did get a vest my mother ordered for me though so here is the start of my outfit for shows.

What metal do you use for the part of the earrings that go through the ear?  Have a friend who would like steampunk earrings but is allergic to nickel.

I actually buy them so I can get different metals depending on what your friend would need.  Most of what I have right now are either steel or an alloy that probably wouldn't be the best for allergies.  I will see if I can get some stainless steal hooks though.
