DGN Updates/Upgrades 2019

Greetings all. 

As The Forum undergoes Updates and much needed Upgrades, please bear with us as we get things done on this end.

However, if you should notice any obvious issues during these phases, please note them here so they may be addressed.

In terms of tech priorities.

 

1.  PHP Errors

2.  Facebook, Twitter, Instagram Integration

3.  This problem here:

 

Not that there is a huge rush.  But social media integration would help a lot and "organic traffic" is nil when search engines can't find a website description.  I don't know why this happens though.

That has to do with relabeling the way the site is registered.  I check if that is within my jurisdiction.

Bobbi is actually pretty good with search engine stuff since I put her in charge of it for hosuespiral.com  , not sure if she might have any insight on this or not.

That is known as a meta description (the part about not knowing the site). It should be pretty easy to change. Does the board have an intro page dashboard like shopify? There has to be a way to change it. Hopefully it's a little like shopify's software and has a built-in editor for the meta description. If so, maybe I can find it if my account allows for that.

not sure if this helps, but if you just want to view the page code, you can right click and "view source" (or similar wording).

Just to be clear...this is NOT how you want the site to appear in Search Engines:

Its bing that says "the site won't let us"  (the second most used search engine)  WHY it says that is confusing since google doesn't seem to have a problem.  Not that I'm losing sleep over it.  Really what this site needs is just more eyeballs.

Can you supply a link to the search engine you are using so I can take a look at what is there?

Please note that during the latest upgrade done February 25, 2019 around 10:30pm, the default theme was reinstated.  We request that everyone please be patient as we get the community back on track.

This is rather disheartening and upsetting.  It appears that this last upgrade has dumped nearly 3 years of recent entries from threads containing over 10,000 posts.  Not only did the site have to be upgraded, but all licenses and a new theme had to be uploaded along with it due to "incompatibility" issues.  It took over 6 hours just getting the site functional again.

 

Over this past weekend, all of our hosting services did major upgrades.  I believe this may have played a part in data discrepancy.  I will do my best to track down what data I can and get it reinstated if possible.  That you for your patience.

There is a good chance that the site is slowly updating.  Just a few minutes ago, I received notifications for posts that were made hours ago.

Interesting.  There are currently only 5 threads messed up.  Can you see anything under "who's online" or "YouTube Clickbait" or "what are you doing right now" ?

Yes, I apologize. I guess because I was posting in how are you feeling and what are you thinking I just assumed that everything new wasn't showing up at all. I seen the announcement on the top of the page also I just wasn't sure if that included new stuff. Lol. I guess it would make sense though.

Yes.  It's just that I've been posting updates about what's been going on with the site since yesterday morning and kat freaked me out when she mentioned not being able to see anything...as I have been saving and downloading all new content that gets posted due to a data rollback to February 23rd that's supposed to take place at some point.  

 

I was having a Twilight Zone moment.  lol

My assumption is that you must be posting in the same threads over again.  There are only 5 threads affected by the missing data.  The rest of the board is still functioning regularly.  To determine if you are posting in an affected thread...check to see if there are more than 10,000post in it.  Only one thread has not been affected by the data issue that way "what are you doing right now".
