Mari Augdahl Bes Bes Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 https://www.thebelfry.rip/blog/2018/10/2/whatcangothlearnfrommetal I found myself listening to podcasts lately, such as NPR. And also The Belfry Network, if I want to learn about goth. As kind of an outsider, yet, insider, to goth, what is goth can be confusing. Of course, Im not a fan of only listening to one perspective. Yet, I started out by listening to the Belfry Network in order to learn more.
Scary Guy Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 (edited) The problem is you think goth is somehow separate from metal. In reality metal is just one type of goth (Type O Negative, HIM, Lacuna Coil, and Evenessence (aka budget Lacuna Coil) come to mind right away.) Hell to me Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, and The Doors were goth before goth was a thing. They had the aesthetic down exactly and they're about as metal as it gets. There can be goth elements in all forms/genres of music as well. However I think the genres that everyone thinks are the purest forms of goth are post-punk and deathrock.
