She woke up a week afterwards.  Did they just hold on to her body?!?

Well, it did take 20 years to get to this point, so why not.

🤷‍♂️

She was on life support I believe,  which makes no sense to me at all.

Exactly.  What was the point of a State Execution if paramedics are standing by...so to speak.

Jamaal Howard asking the court to pause his execution because of what happened in Pike's case is hilarious.  It's like he believes he might survive his execution in critical condition as well.

She carried a piece of the girls skull around.

Because the lady survived, they forgot why she was on Death Row in the first place and are acting like she's the victim instead of the girl she killed 20 years ago.

I wouldn't know how to react in this situation if I were a family member of Colleen Slemmer.  She was murdered by Christa Pike and her boyfriend after they lured her to the woods and tortured for a half hour before Pike bashed her head in, thus killing her.

Now I'm going to be all up in this story.  I had no idea about it. I usually live on ID TV, but things changed after I got a ROKU TV...lol

They already have the update on Wikipedia.

I find it crazy that she was looking out for her own well being regarding her execution.

One might believe the entire thing was planned.

Wow that was fast!

Danielle Kristy did this video 3 years ago, so it ends with there being the wait for execution.  However, the comments are already about the failed execution.

That's because there's evidence that lethal injection isn't a painless process without complications. Certain medical conditions do affect the efficacy of the injection. Plus, the injection itself has three stages. If the first fails or only induces partial paralysis instead of unconsciousness, you're forcing people to either feel themselves die of asphyxiation or a heart attack due to the second and third stages. Those are considered cruel because they're not instant like hanging or electrocution (which themselves have sooo many opportunities for failure). Pike had a reason to believe that the first stage wouldn't work on her.

Yes, I know, she had such a condition that would make that a very painful process for her.

I'm not an evil person, but if you spent 45 minutes cutting, torturing and bashing my baby's head in off of a rumor then keeping a part of my child's skull as a trophy, I wouldn't care if they bound and gagged you and set you on fire to see how long you would burn.  But I'm not totally heartless, I wouldn't be opposed to them checking to see if you were still alive after 45 minutes.

I get that this lady had a very hard upbringing, but I don't see that as an excuse for what she did.  There is a fine line between snapping and just straight up malicious behavior.  She knew how it felt to be abused and she chose to do the same to someone else and brag about it.

But hey, I know, we are all good inside and we just have to remember that before we pull the trigger.

I agree, Tron I'd set a bitch on fire for hurting my baby but yea she was an abused person and went through a lot. Still, so was I and ain't once ever wanted to kill a bitch when I was a teen.

I suffered non-physical abuse for decades, but you go through it because it's family.  But then I got robbed and had to be concerned about the guy that robbed me pressing charges because he might have hurt his ankle jumping out of my porch window.  The police couldn't do an arrest because the items that were stolen were not in the person's possession.  I was robbed and yet the police kept an eye on me to see what "character" of person I was.  So the other 2 times I was robbed, I just filed the report that it happened and left it at that.

A couple of times, I did have the opportunity to become a criminal and I thought, at least then the justice system would be on my side for a change.  Officers even go out of their way to befriend bad guys so they can have eyes and ears in certain neighborhoods.

I made the decision to remain an invisible, good member of society.

So I suppose this lady is now what you call "blessed" and will have many followers cheering her on.

What?  Sorry I wasn't paying attention.  Anyway, now I am, so here's my take on it.

I've always been pro capital punishment under certain conditions.    There has to be iron-clad proof that the person(s) committed the act of which they are accused.  Ideally with at least three witnesses and video evidence, maybe a confession (not under duress) too.  There also has to be no possibility of rehabilitation, and a good chance that they would reoffend given the opportunity.  If there is no hope of them ever rehabilitating and rejoining society in a way that doesn't put the safety of others at risk, then there is no reason that person should be kept around.

HOWEVER, we as a society don't and shouldn't want anyone to suffer needlessly, regardless of crime.  The justice system should be about rehabilitation and not revenge, but in cases like this when rehabilitation is not an option since the crime is so egregious, then the best way out is a painless quick exit.  Hell, living in a cage knowing there's a clock hanging over your head is torture enough IMO.

They say it costs more to execute someone than to imprison them for life.  I don't see how that is unless it's by design.  I could do it for $10 (maybe more if you include the cost of the entire firearm (probably a shotgun) and not just the cartridge (probably slugs.))

Ideally we could solve the problem for pain like the one for suicide.  Let the convicted choose what they think would be the most painless way to die, and then use that.  Personally I think the suicide helmet would be best, and then burn the remains so there is nothing left that can feel any pain.
