What to eat when you're an emotional wreck

I've tried to eat since Sunday and everything looks gross to me. Even soup nauseates me. I find I can drink coffee and milk, but food makes me feel like I'm choking.

Any ideas? I have to keep going for my kids and I need to get myself at least partially back together before I have to be back to work Wednesday.

Ensure makes me gag. Maybe I should go buy some Slimfast.

Bread and water, Onyx. When I get like that, I eat like a prisoner because that's what I feel like.

Dark europian chocolate.

as far as "bang-for-the-buck", any kind of nuts will work (even trail mix) - lots of caloric energy in a small amount, making it easier/quicker to force down. i know you don't want to eat (been there many times) so high calorie items are the best bet, in small amounts...

i'd say no to slimfast but try a protein type drink/shake instead.

even muching foods are gross to you? i was thinking maybe things you could kind of nibble/snack on instead of having a whole meal might be more appealing.

take vitamins to replish your nutrients, and then just munch on what ever you ca nto keep somehtng in your stomach.

I will say that after a surgery i had a while abck they made me eat and i was really sick to my stomach, butthey made me eat any how, they gave me cinnimon bread with real butter on it, looked gross but after the first bite i was hooked and i even asked for more. Something abouth the cinnamon n butter combo. Country crock has a new cinnimon butter if you cant find any cinnamon bread.

Thanks for the ideas. I will try some of these.

Yeah, toast is a good one. And orange juice if you can get yourself to down it. Sometimes apple juice is more palatable, but it doesn't have much good in it except fiber.

The nuts suggestion was a damned good one.

At the moment, the marachino cherries in a bourbon mai tai are all the food I need... :chug

Egg drop soup. It looks gross, and is hard to get yourself to try to eat at first but damn. It must be the curer of all things bad.

Cheese always makes me feel better. I had Arby's fried cheese sticks yesterday when I felt like crap.

Hey, cheese and chocolate both raise your endorphins, thus making you feel better. :grin

I guess our famous MSU specialty chocolate cheese should be the ultimate cure for depression!

If you don't happen to be near East Lansing, the trick is to get really good chocolate... like go to Hudson's or Barnes & Noble and indulge in a box of Godiva... or just a few pieces if that's all you can afford.

Nuts are great if you cant force down much, a lot of punch,

but it all depends if you can get it/keep it down.

Cheese- The best/worst food on the planet for me

If I a. am feeling depressed and want comfort food, sure theres nothing better

but

If I b. have my stomach in knots, cheese will just bind me and make me feel worse ( and I know this happens to as lot of others)

If you're feeling b. - you may just want to eat things that are gentle on the stomach

Nothing gentler than bread or saltines. I know they're boring but I find comfort food doesnt comfort me when I'm out of my mind stressed.

Just my 2 cents

I didnt know we had chocolate cheese. Sounds great right now. Im coming over.
