the eternal Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 ICP (sorry guys) I'm officially in love. I thought I was the only one that couldnt stand them. Sorry jugallos (I mean Vanilla Ice has opened for them) I can listen to rap but I like it political and angry Consolidated Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy The Coup Dead Prez Phee- You had me then you lost me. I too can't get into Marilyn Manson, but I chalk it up to my strong love for NIN. First and Last And Always-Sisters of Mercy -beautiful, tragic, even rocks at points One more defense-Green Day I know they've been snotty little pseudo-punkers in the past but lately they've harkened the heyday of punkers that cared more about doing something than about their dicks (That reminds me --Blink 182 They're like a hair band ripping off some old Bad Religion licks) Zieg Heil to the president gasman Bombs away is your punishment Pulverize the Eiffel towers Who criticize your government Bang bang goes the broken glass and Kill all the fags that don't agree Trials by fire, setting fire Is not a way that's meant for me Just cause, just cause, because we're outlaws yeah! I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives Green Day-Holiday Here's something to gnash your teeth into Goddamn Kidz Bop If there are any parents on here, I want to know if your rugrat made you buy this vile noise violation I cant even watch the commercial without my ears bleeding Imagine taking the worst, dumbest, poppiest songs that you cant avoid when shopping unless you shop thrift stores, and now have 6,7, and 8 year olds cover them Karaoke style The road to hell is paved with Now that's What I Call... and Kidz Bop records. As an aside, I had an idea that could continue and kill the genre in one album. Have kids, oh I'm sorry, "kidz", do 80s masturbation covers. It'd be called She Bop from the Cyndi Lauper song celebrating, well celebrating yourself. " All the classics are here and it's all about them learning the facts of life! We've got Turning Japanese, I Touch Myself, 867-5309 Jenny, Dancing With Myself (kidz singing Well I wait so long for my love vibration and I'm dancing with myself ' cue parent opening the door to kid's bedroom- "MOMMMM!" back to kidz dancing 'Uhh-uhh-uhh-O dancing with myself' That's She Bop. It may seem wrong, but it least it saves you the hassle of talking to your kids yourself. See it alongside Goth Bop, Industrial Bop, and of course, 'It's my Body not yours, Dad'-Bop" Just a thought anyway
Guest Game of Chance Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Marilyn Manson Placebo Nine Inch Nails (anything put out since The Downward Spiral, that is) NOFX (submit chessy pop punk band here) (submit cheesy no talent industrial band here) can't think of anymore right now...my brain hurts
Fierce Critter Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 I dislike a lot of music. But the following are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head as being "oh god, not that - NOOOOOOOOO!!!" Marilyn Manson (and I don't apologize) Tori Amos Just about any rap except Beastie Boys (yes, this includes ICP, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, etc.) Madonna Mariah Carey Whitney Houston Flaming Lips Alison Krauss and any number of country/bluegrass artists Courtney Love & related projects Just about any modern "soul" like Usher, etc. Any and all death rock - I'm sorry, I'd like to like Kittie, but when she "sings" in this style, it just cracks me up. Hootie & the Blow-me-fish I LOVE R.E.M. and U2, but only albums before Green & Joshua Tree. The rest you couldn't PAY me to have in my collection.
Guest Game of Chance Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Only thing I disagree with on this thread is the Courtney Love hating. Yes, as a person, she sucks ass. And her last two records suck ass as well. But Pretty On the Inside and Live Through This are both surprisingly good albums, if given a chance. And her earlier stuff with The Holez (pre-Hole) is awesome...if you're into riot grrrrl music that is.
sithzanshen Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 I'm finding it hard to get into anything made post-mid90's. After a 5yr hiatus, I went to City Club and realized I couldn't tell when one song ended and another began. My friends that are in their late teens and early twenties are into it and I'm happy for them. All of the music I've heard so far seems "constructed" not "created". Constucted "Radio-pop" music is ok, that's just the nature of the beast. I just remember when the "underground" scene used to be more diverse and passionate. Then again, maybe I'm just getting old =(
Fierce Critter Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 if you're into riot grrrrl music that is. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not. I respect that others respect her and the music she makes, but I tried it and couldn't get into it period.
Fierce Critter Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 I'm also hard-pressed to be into anything that's come after the mid 90's or so. I don't think I've bought an entire album by anyone from that time to this. Might have picked up some stuff like Weezer, Cake & some people who were making albums pre 1995, but probably nothing from artists mainly active in the past 10 years. I've downloaded entire albums to give them a try with the intention of buying the album if I liked it. Stuff like Jimmy Eats World, System of a Down, a few others. Besides the singles that led me to do so, nothing else struck me as interesting enough to merit buying the album. And in almost every case, I even deleted the downloaded songs. About the only person whose album I enthusiastically purchased was David Grey.
SaGa Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 ahh there are still some very good artists in this era.. they just are not on the radio. radio music just sucks.
soothsayer Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 William Shatner <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes he has recorded "music" if you will. I've heard him on college radio, if you want a good laugh he's your man. Motley CruePoison Eminem Tesla Guns N'Roses AC/DC Eminem Bad English Alice in Chains Dokken Trixter Great White Eminem Bare Naked Ladies Cinderella Bon Jovi Slaughter Eminem Skid Row The Black Crowes Bryan Adams Stryper Britny Fox Filter Bad Religion Green Day Damn Yankees <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have to agree with this list but for the exception of ac/dc (I do like their early stuff) and AIC. the damned yankoffs suck, they just suck and should be ashamed that they ever thought of recording together.
Slept with ghost Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Only thing I disagree with on this thread is the Courtney Love hating. Yes, as a person, she sucks ass. Aralis Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Damn alot of people dislike Manson! I love him! :grin And I will admit I liked some stuff by Wham! but mostly just George Micheal when he went solo. I like that song Careless Whisper. Bands I can not stand Hootie and the Blowfish Def Lepperd ACDC Motley Crue Any COUNTRY Boy Bands Most RAP ICP Squirrel Nut Zippers Slayer Ace of Base That's all I can think of at the moment.
Black Sunday9 Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 bands I can't stand: Pavement - these guys rip off the Fall and that's about the extent of Pavements work, the Fall were pissed about it and Pavement just made jokes about it, calling themselves a "Fall coverband" but it doesn't change the facts. MatchBox 20 - I don't know why but Rob Thomas bugs the hell out of me. They are a pretty non offensive band I guess, but I can't stand them. Cypress Hill - obnoxious rap with whiney voices complaining about pot not being legal and how they could just kill a man. ANnoying. Rage Against the Machine - This is just noise. There is no melody in their music. Plus you had to deal with the singers uneducated anti-capatilist drivel - while he worked for a big capatilist label and drove a sports car. He believes violence is an appropriate form of protest. Nice. I hope he dies in a fire. Stereolab - ANother rip off band without original ideas. Nice stealing other people's songs note for note. PUKE. Plus the girls voice is just annoying as hell, her vocals sound like nursery rhymes.
Slept with ghost Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 i used to like rage but not so much any more the thing that really bugged me about them were the kids who dont research anything they sang about and just agree with everything they sang
fever blister Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 good charlotte all american rejects crazytown who ever backs hillary duff and lindsay lohan
the eternal Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Any redneck kneejerk country patriotic band/singer Let's put a boot in their asses! It's the American way courtesy of the red, white, and blue, but MOSTLY blue (staters)
pomba gira Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 William Shatner <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "MR TAMBORIIIINNNE MAAAANNNN!!!" Props to the Shat-Man for having the gumption to do something that absurd... I truly admire celebrities who don't take themselves too seriously. Which the Priceline spots pretty much prove he doesn't. I would've loved to party w/him & Larry Hagman back in the day. Kid Rock ( trailor trash!!...wanna be a cowbow? move to texas!!! ) The Noooge!!! good ole Teddy Nudgit ( Who cares about Fred Bear!! sounds like a gay camping trip to me!! ) Keith Richards ( Is this guy still alive?! bloody hell....drugs are supposed to shorten life not extend it! ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I loved Kid Rock before he turned into Kid Redneck. Damn near walked out of his show a couple years ago when he had a giant rebel flag as backdrop for one number. Daevion, thought you were one of the DGN anti-juggalos- what are you doing paraphrasing ICP lyrics? I know this goes against all those cozy stereotypes, but heroin actually does "keep you young" (or at the very least, has very few longterm adverse effects) IF you have the means to avoid the contamination issues caused by its legal status... which Keef certainly did. Only thing I disagree with on this thread is the Courtney Love hating. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree... & hell, I think Courtney'd be mad fun to hang with... once. OK My List: AC/DC Tori Amos Weezer Bare Naked Ladies Almost all: '80s hair bands, mainstream rap, girl pop singers, boy pop singers, & "modern" country Green Day- sorry Eternal, being political is all well & good, but this sounds like they listened to lots of old Dead Kennedys & said "hey we can do this"! They can't. Captain Beefheart 10,000 Maniacs Blink 182, Good Charlotte, & the whole pseudo-punk lot [insert "when I was a punk back in the '80s..." rant here] Matchbox 20- BS9, I feel ya on this one- that guy truly annoys me for no apparent reason. Maybe it's his bizarre giant box head. Crass Cradle of Filth- Wow! Sepulchral belch-growling AND demented-witch screeching- the two most annoying vocal styles in existence, IN EVERY SONG! What a cool idea! & can someone tell me why the hell they're called "Boy BANDS"? Isn't a "band" supposed to involve people playing actual instruments?
Kiss The Midget Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 wow...after reading this i decided to not put the bands i dislike... i will just say that i dont like anyone that cant appreciate talent , like ALICE-N-CHAINS or SISTERS OF MERCY i guess you have to be a Musician to understand but whatever to each his or her own
