Hellion Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 :devil This is my own opinion on this subject. I think that what you do at home or anywhere else is you own business not your employers! As long as you do not come into work drunk high or whatever; then there should'nt be any problem. When you are at work you are there to work not play; but when you are at home; do what ever you want to do because your not on the clock. When I am not on the clock; My place of employment does not exist until 8:00 in the morning on monday. (damn insurance companies) I wonder if they piss test their own employees? hmmm, makes me wonder.
Soulrev Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 It's not the fact that they care what you do in your off-time, it's just; they figure, since they don't have a "weed-a-lyzer" test to see if you are intoxicated, it is just too much of a risk for their company. They have to automatically assume if you smoke weed on your off-time, you are going to smoke on the job, too. It's the fault of those who do go to work high, and cause accidents. If they had a way to find out if you are actually high on the job, kinda like a breath-a-lyzer, it probably wouldn't be as much of an issue. This also falls into one of my theories on why they won't legalize pot (aside from the Church having a hissy fit), they can't control it like alcohol. They can't prove you're high (at least not in a way that will hold up in court).
Homicidalheathen Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I am a sales pro. I have divers. I need pot. Got offered a great job at Ford selling In R.O. yup thats right, the big bucks. But they do drug testing even on sales employees.....it sucks because I am damn good, know allot about cars (Ok so I hate ford but could still sell them) and had to turn it down. At the time I had nothing else I could use for my symptoms....and was in and out of the hospital. I couldn't give up pot and don't think a toke or two on my lunch hour so I didn't shit my pants all day would have mattered much. The law needs to change.
Ginevra Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I have to agree with SR on this one. Most folks who use pot for medicinal purposes are typically mature enough to handle it. However, HH, not to sound prejudiced against you, I wouldn't want to work with someone who's been smoking immediately before coming in. Same goes for any type/amount of alcohol, regardless of the individual's tolerance level. Yes, what people do in their own home is their own business. But when it "leaks" over into the workplace, then that's a different story.
