CRAP YOUR RIGHT!

Here all this time I thought it was Black Sabbath (1970).

I feel weak  :tear

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Poet as the lead singer? check!

Dark and mysterious imagery and metaphor in the lyrics? check!

Singer in black eather pants? check!

Organ player in the band? check!

Connections to neo-pagan/"alternative" religion? check! (yes, Jim Morrison really did marry Doors groupie Patricia Keneally, who really is a practicing Wiccan -- though it was ceremony-only, as neither bothered to get a marriage lisence)

All the signs are there -- The Doors were a prototypical Goth band. :wink

Misfits / The Clash  when im in a gothy mood.

Sex Pistiols / Exploited / The damned when im not.

Black Flag when i want to be cool and impress the chicks.

The Clash always struck me as very ska-punk/2 Tone material.

I actually screwed that up, The Clash and The Damned should be flip-flopped in that post. To lax to change it at the moment. (and also would make the above post confusing even if i did. =)

Ok...so after I posted this thread...I thought of about 150 different bands...that could have been an option, The Ramones, Iggy and the Stooges, Catholic Discipline, Negative Approach, The Meatmen, well...I'm not gonna name them all

I voted for Dischord Records.

And how could you forget the Butthole Surfers or the Crucifucks?????

The Clash started out fairly classic punk but even in those early days you could hear the influences of other generes creeping in. By Sadinista they were trancending pretty much all boundaries. I've always loved that about them.

Too bad Joe had to go and die... *cries*
