Head Wreck Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 I just upgraded someones hard drive (the one that went boom). to keep data i did a sector by sector copy. this has left me with half a drive with partition, the other unpartitioned. i'd like it to be possible to extend the ntfs patition to the full size of the drive (160GB) without destroying data. any advice of freeware or shareware utilities i can use for this one job?
float Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 I don't think it can be done, with out erasing the current partition you wanna leave the OS on a seperate partition anyway....for virus protection just a thought
Vater Araignee Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 How much free space is on the first partition? You may need add some, don't forget lots of programs like to add to the system and system32 folders even when installing to another partition. Ya need the room to grow. as for getting a free ntfs utility.........
Head Wreck Posted August 4, 2005 Author Posted August 4, 2005 right. problem solved. hidden in the system (past the passworded accounts) they had a copy of partition magic installed. job done. i'm going to haveto retool my freeware selection. i get bugger all in FAT nowerdays
