As cliche as it is... I would have to say a sword, because it won't run out of ammo, and unlike a spear, it can still be good in close combat.

my choice would be the welsh longbow, need to train since childhood to use them but they were more deadly than the english bows, and hence thier deployment allong with welsh mercanaries at adgincourt
