both. but dogs more so than cats. although cats are more "self contained" and easier to care for i think. it really depends on the personality of the pet moreso than if it is a cat or dog. some cats are evil. and some dogs are just plain stupid. and i am allergic to some but not all. so i guess it depends on the individual animal. and actually i would like one of each. and have had one of each. but do not have either now.
