soothsayer Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 If anyone here can tell me what is the best way to get candle wax out of pants. I accidently got wax on my pants (don't ask) and I want to save 'em. Ugh.
unchaste Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 They actually sell candle wax remover at the grocery store, with all the specialty cleaners & such. Also try Goo Gone, or anything uber citrusy.
Brenda Starrr Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 If anyone here can tell me what is the best way to get candle wax out of pants. I accidently got wax on my pants (don't ask) and I want to save 'em. Ugh. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How DID that happen, sooth?
soothsayer Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 (don't ask) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> :innocent :whistling Thanks unchaste I'll gives those products a try.
Brenda Starrr Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Next time, try taking the pants OFF first.
soothsayer Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 Well when you're caught up in the moment and forget details and then the next thing you know.....
Brenda Starrr Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Well, pay a little more attention next time.
soothsayer Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 *Makes mental note: Take pants off first before using lite candles*
Fierce Critter Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 If the candle was dyed in any way, the fabric will be dyed almost permanently. You will not get red wax totally out of bluejeans. And if you do, you'll still have an oil-like stain left behind. Good luck. I too have suffered the pain of losing an article of clothing to wax, though mine involved pagan rituals, not, um, other things. :whistling :whistling
The_Dark Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Boiling Water. pour a goodly amount of boiling water through said pants... Wax, Die and all are gone when your done.
The_Dark Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 If you do get the oily residue then you need to use a degreaser. Parafin wax is after all a petroluem byproduct.
soothsayer Posted September 13, 2005 Author Posted September 13, 2005 Good luck. I too have suffered the pain of losing an article of clothing to wax, though mine involved pagan rituals, not, um, other things. :whistling :whistling <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Such dirty minds, I was lighting a cig with a candle and wax got on my pant leg.
Killer_Bunnie Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 there is an easier way, all you need is paper towl and an iron, the towl will take in the wax and it doesn't take time or cost really anything, just have something inside the pants (not you) like newspaper.
Msterbeau Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 What she said. *Points up* Although Darks suggestion may work too. I haven't tried it, though.
The_Dark Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 I've tried wicking wax out of cloth.. it never gets it all. Historically, wax has been remvoed from cloth with boiling water... cause it's easy and it works.
kellygrrrrrl Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Make wax melted somehow, get it warm enough to melt the wax and not your jeans, and absorb it with a brown paper bag. I got red wax on my carpet and did this, I used an iron, and then absorbed it with the bag. There is no stain anymore. Oh, and if there is a oily residue, try using dish detergent. Palmolive or whatever.
Marblez Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Oh, and if there is a oily residue, try using dish detergent. Palmolive or whatever. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Shampoo will likely work for this as well. Do not use dishwasher detergent though, liquid or powder as it often contains bleach or bleachlike chemicals. Believe me!!
soothsayer Posted September 14, 2005 Author Posted September 14, 2005 UPDATE: Well I guess I got lucky because this happened to my black jeans so after doing some clean up on them they are almost entirely like new again. WooHoo. :grin Thanks everyone for the helpful advice and the dirty thoughts.
Reaper Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Daniel san, you change tire on all classic cars. Here, you use jack like this. jack on....jack off, and so on. Your master say so!
