its William Gibson's first book set in the present.... kind of wierd reading one of his books where the pop culture is actually pop culture.... its pretty good so far, but I only read 17 pages before falling asleep last night.

It sounds kind of ironic, since he was sort of the prophet preaching in the wilderness 20 years ago about technologies that have come into their own lately.

Hmm, let me know how it is when you finish. I've been considering reading it, but I've become less trusting of Gibson in the past few years

I really enjoyed Pattern Recognition. Gibson did a good job with his take on the concepts behind marketing.

I guess im just really wierd because I liked Idoru, Virtual Light and All Tomorrow's Parties more than his early stuff....

Sure there were some really good parts in his early books... but overall I did not like them as much as the last three (which have far less "cyberspace" in them... which means they can stand up better as technology passes by "prediciton" and makes old prediction look silly....

I will give him that.... but his early books are hard to get through (even though they are easy to read.... they are pretty boring)
