there are many forms of art. if you can think like bruce lee then think this.

art is humman emotion in a form thet is shared.

an art form is a container for your emotions.

BE LIKE WATER can you take the shape of the container like liquid

like water your soul must be so you can express yourself in any form.

what form do you enjoy? Cooking, dance, martial arts, painting, or the big one TYPING.

SO YOU TELL ME what practiced form you would enjoy teaching to others.

what art form would you like to learn?

I never stop teaching. I'm a Father. I do my best to teach my boys to grow up to be Men. Real Men. Men that take resposibility for their actions. Men who are willing to fight for thier beleifs. Men who look deeper than the face of things.

so fatherhood

sculpting the minds and develpomeant of the children you are responsable for.

seems to be an ultimate as far as art goes. there must be many small victories and successfull attempts at this everyday.

A couple questions, if I may. Who isn't a "real man"? Also curious if you have daughters? I think you mentioned six kids but I don't think I've seen you mention ages, genders, etc...

Back on topic.... I like teaching almost anything I enjoy doing. I teach art (Industrial Design) formally. I've taught car racing school, ... Not only is it satisfying to pass on what you yourself have learned, it helps you learn new things as well. And yes...I teach my children. I try anyways.... :whistling

I teach poker, informally, to those who I think have some real talent and interest in the game. When you see 15,000+ hands a month, I think it gives you the right to teach.

I have also held informal classes on Qabalah and Hermetic Magick.

god, i can give you a handful of examples of men i know that aren't "Real men" :wink

i don't want to steal the dark's answer but when i saw this thread it is the first thing that came to my mind too. not fatherhood of course but parenting in general.

i don't have a skill or an art form that i can teach anyone. i teach my children various things every day. sometimes my example is bad, i know. and on those days i am learning too.

before i had my own children i worked at a school. so there i was teaching children as well. i have worked with children there from 6 weeks old to 13 years old.

if you think about it you could learn a lot from children as well. if you don't have children/are not around children i suggest you sit back one day and just observe them. look at how willing they are to absorb the world around them. how open they are to new experiences, feelings, places, music, people ... i wish i knew that magical age where children started to lose that. that is the age i would love to scoop them all away and let them know they don't ever have to lose that. because once you do you are never the same.

As a mom, I try to teach my kids to be polite, honest, and good-hearted. Some days, it goes well, others-not so much. I try to teach them how to create things. Since I make cigar box purses, my daughter enjoys doing them as well. My son is really into computers, which is what Wayne shares with him. For an 11 year old, he knows a lot. He and Wayne get into arguments over who knows more, which is hysterical. If there's something I know that they want to learn, I'll teach them, if it's the right thing for their ages.

Sometimes, they teach me a thing or two.

I am currently teaching my kid to sing....she is learning scales and doing the born to sing lessons....and some PINK songs.

My man is teaching her guitar. I married an ex music teacher.......we are all so lucky in this house.

I have tried (and failed heh) to learn the sax........I learned some keyboards......harmonica....Ok I already played that but he taught our other kid to play the flute.

We also taught her the recorder first.......ok it is like the flute but a little different.

I want to learn Martial arts really and belly dancing. But the classes are too expensive.

I want to start a web site where people trade teaching each other stuff.

Like if you know how to paint but want to learn say....guitar...then you hook up with a guitarist who teaches you in return for learning to paint.

Like the http://freecycle.org thing.

Check that out people.......free trade of good stuff.

Sign up in Troy or other cities where the member list is long.

You can get rid of old stuff or herlooms in return for something you would actually use........for free.

My friend just got a huge fishtank FREE

OK. Personally I would call them undesirable HUMANS... not just men. You ascribe particular qualities to a particular gender when I think they more fairly belong to both.

You didn't mention if you have daughters. ??? The reason I ask is that you've only mentioned teaching your sons. *IF* you have daughters... I assume you teach them as well?

Yes, I have a daughter. She is my oldest. She is off to college and is in that stage where she thinks her parents can't teach her anything. Actually, for her that started at about age 12. Thats what you get for having a certified genius for a child.

And as to what you think about how I raise my kids and what I teach them... I have ideals of how a Man should act and those are what I am passing on to my children. My wife has the same ideals. Frankly, what you think doesn't matter, they are not your kids.

I know kerate and have not been able to learn guitar since i first tryed in 1999.

I pawned my magic cards for a 40$ crate amp and a giant long neck bass.

honor makes a man. often in moments of insanity i ask myself "is it without honor?" especially when i can't rationalize something as wrong even if it's deserved i still ask myself that first.

this is tough cause no one has the exact same definition of honor.

chicks with honor huh sounds like a band. but it happens i'm sure.

so does anyone hate teaching?

Do you mean as a dealer? No.

I mean I play enough to see 15,000 hands a month.

I play at Greektown sometimes, but I prefer tournament poker to cash games...I play online everyday though. Mostly for the convenience. Not to mention that the competition is pretty weak.

I woudn't presume to tell you how to raise your children, but I was struck that you only mentioned teaching the boys.

From what I've heard, many children lose interest in learning things from their parents after 12ish. I'll find out soon enough with mine..... :doh

ok so i guess 12 is that magical age i was talking about. so now i just have to get all the 11 year olds in the world and bring them here for awhile...

I teach music to around 1200 kids a week in 3 schools, K-8th grade. I care a great deal for all my students. It is tough being a school teacher these days. There are good parenst and there are bad parents. It is a very rewarding job though knowing that you teach them or inspire them in one way or another. Many dont have fathers which makes me feel like a big dad at times. We sing, we dance, we play games, we learn about how powerful music is in this world. Children are very very smart and severly underated. I teach them manners, honesty, kindness, respect, and self discpline. In return, they teach me every day the same things. We never stop learning.
