Jarodaka Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Any other board game geeks here? Puerto Rico, Acquire, Settlers of Catan, that sort of thing. Maybe an occasional round of Munchkin or Lunch Money to kill time between other games.
Shade Everdark Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 I only ever got into Axis & Allies, which is sort of, ummm, broken, and Diplomacy, which is a great game when you can actually find people who can shrug it off once the game is done.
Jarodaka Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 I love Monopoly. I suck at Monopoly. I love Monopoly anyway. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You should definitely try Acquire. It's a much more interesting 'get all the money you can' game.
Jarodaka Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 ...Diplomacy, which is a great game when you can actually find people who can shrug it off once the game is done. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would very much like to try a game of Diplomacy. I promise to shrug it off once the game is done!
Shade Everdark Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 You know Diplomacy, Jarod? Wow, if you could find five other people willing to put in the time and who could be amicable about betrayal and treachery, I'd love to spend some Saturday playing.
Jarodaka Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 I know of Diplomacy, but have not actually played. I understand it's a classic and would very much like to find out what this game is all about. Shade, about how long does it take to play a game of Diplomacy?
Fierce Critter Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 Avalon Hill games are some of my best Ebay items. I don't think I've ever paid more than $1.00 for one at a yard sale, and by this time have probably sold 30 or more. Done as well as about $78 on a single title. Heh - I have a copy of Acquire at the moment, I think. We keep a lot of board games around, but never seem to play them. Monopoly, Scrabble, Parcheesi, Rack-O, Stratego, PayDay, Battleship, Pathfinder, Backgammon. Collecting dust, but I can't seem to give them up. I've been playing a lot of board games on the computer. Hoyle Board Games came with the laptop that's currently out of commission, but I downloaded it onto the desktop PC too. Playing their version of MasterMind and though I suck at it, I'm really enjoying it.
gothicmom Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 I like Scrabble, I suck at Scrabble. I like trivia persuit, I suck at that too, but I rock at TV trivia! I like Monopoly. We have Monopoly Jr. which is fun because that only takes 3 hours to play! Battleship is fun, but we don't have that game. I bought Connect four for the kids for Christmas, thats fun. My mom has Sorry and Trouble, the kids like those.l I used to play Aggrivation with my Grandma when I was younger.
