I'm not sure how I feel about that :blink

I was searching for a reference book and typed in Sanchin-Ryu and there's all my LJ whining for the world to see. (not that I thought I was hiding, but gee, didn't expect to find myself so high in the results). I didn't even know LiveJournal entries would show up in Google.

hmmm

Google heavily weights domains that have been in existance for a long time. LiveJournal certainly qualifies for that. I guess they don't have any anti-robot files for preventing spidering of their users' journals. That's an interesting, and a little scary observation.

I've had a similar sort of experience before. I've owned DanYouAll.com for about 5 years, and I find that it indexes REALLY well for any words I put in a 'daily picture'. Sometimes I'm careful about mentioning names or the wording I use so I don't get into trouble

Actually it should be in the options to block spiders from indexing your journal.

"Minimize your journal's inclusion in search engine results

If you check this option, search engines will be instructed not to include your journal entries in their search results. Not all search engines recognize this request; if you do not want a journal entry to show up in search results, then make sure it is posted private or friends-only."

OK I was wrong, says minimize.

One of the reasons why mine is friends only. Creepy stuff.
