Rayne Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Am I the only one who's significant other (yeah, long story) can not stand Industrial music? My kids LOVE it. He, however, will destroy my CD's if he can . I can't get in my own car without finding one of my CD's missing, and country playing on my radio. Just wondering if I am the only one.
Onyx Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Ignoring the fact that I'd have a big problem with anyone who would destroy my CDs (is that any way to treat someone you supposedly care about?) I'm seriously not sure I could live hearing country all the time. (If you are referring to top40 country, excluding things like bluegrass and the most honorable Mr. Cash).
Msterbeau Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 That's pretty fucked up... explains certain things too... :doh
phee Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 My fiance generaly doesn't like it.... she thinks it is too depressing
Rayne Posted October 11, 2005 Author Posted October 11, 2005 That's pretty fucked up... explains certain things too... :doh <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You think that explains some...you should hear the rest...perhaps one day.... :erm

Don't get me wrong, Industrial isn't all I listen too, but country is ALL he listens too....it gets annoying. VERY annoying.

I like that someone can introduce me to new things...like music. But, there needs to be a fair bit of overlap too. How can you enjoy things like dancing if your partner doesn't like the music? (Rhetorical question, BTW.) More importantly... how do you make out on the dance floor and grind your pelvis's together if you're not in sync musically? :blink This is important shit!!!

I'd had a little too much alcohol on Saturday. Jason and his liquor. Good move Missie, deciding not to buy your own alcohol, all night. :doh But yeah...ummm...he doesn't dance. AT ALL. I have a list of things....trust me. It's pathetic, but been a long time coming as well. :whistling
bean Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 The hubby can't stand the music I listen to, which I don't understand because he used to go to cc all the time. Anyway, he likes rap and hip hop, which I can't stand. When things were good with us, we compromised, but as things went downhill, he would hide my cd's or whine if I had my music playing quietly in a different room. I've been trying to get him out of my house, so I've been playing nothing but Skinny Puppy, Wumpscut, Marilyn Manson, and Lords of Acid at full blast whenever he is here, because he hates them. Hopefully he will get out soon. Oy.
Goth Brooks Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 ah.. this thread brings back memories. i love all music, and can usually find at least 1 or 2 songs from any cd that i'll like.. so i never had any problem with my ex's taste in music. except for tool... i cannot stand tool. give me a purely instrumental cd, and i'd love it.. they know how to play.. but i cannot stand the sound of that lead singer's voice, and the shit he spews that people consider as poetical lyrical genius annoys me to no end. it wouldn't surprise me to find out he uses a pearl script to "write" his lyrics, it looks that way when you read it. as for my taste? i'm very eclectic, but very poor, so my music collection's limited. and i happen to love quite a bit of the new country... it's actually the only new music i'm able to stand, all other genres are just lacking nowadays IMO. as for dancing to music you don't like, i can do that no problem.. even the shittiest music has a rhythm and tempo.. i hope.. and can be danced to. if i can dance at CC, anyone should be able to.
Lilith Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Considering my ole man just left in a huff n stuff i would so right now play dirty and smash every country cd with a hammer. as for music Lestat and i both kinda lie kthe same stuff some of what i like to listen to he hates but he puts up with it as long as i compromise and dont play it all the time, which usually works well casue it may only be a song here n there he dont like and not entire groups or generes, we both have a dislike for country how ever but do enjoy the random song that catches our ear.
ZhukovCodeslinger Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 I would never let anyone destroy my music. I have an ex that stole a bunch of my music... and the only reason there has not been any payback is because I cant reach out and grab her and get my stuff back... I will get it back or... well ill just not incriminate myself here... but I will say that I have been watching Casino a bit lately. I have found that violence or the police can usually remove someone who wont leave.... Or you could get an anullment or just get someone who is bigger to chase him off. Filming a porno with 4-5 big guys might work too.... especially if they are his friends. Though I suppose that could push him over the edge... so you might want to arm yourself after that. (another idea is to change the locks and throw all of his stuff out in the street)
detroitrequiem Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 You're not alone. My gf hates this music and the scene. Then again, she did work at Hot Topic for a few years which is probably a big cause. She wont come out to the clubs either. I always end up going out alone which sucks seeing so many people making out and all. Ok now Im venting sorry. I bought her all these cute little outfits and she doesnt wear them out either. I think Ive become a sugar daddy! Grrrr....

detroitrequiem Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Actually no. Im not looking for pity or sympathy. Im simply expressing my feelings in this post. But hey thanks for the rude comment!
Head Wreck Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 i know how that feels. one of my many many exes. Tamsin (the one who DIDN'T cheat on me) didnt like metal or industrial, she listned to pop music if anything (music that for some reason put my temper on boil as quickly as watching someone talk with thier mouthfull or elbows on table). ended up at seperate clubs etc. if we went out. as to destroying CD's... uurgh. i'm sorry you have to put up with that. only once has somone done somethintg similar, fortunatly it was a home taped cassette my dad ejected out of the head unit and threw out the window while i was driving him to work. that sucked lots, he never repeated it, allthough he thought it was frightfully amusing
