My husband and I LOVED this film. We laughed our asses off.

According to user commentary at The Internet Movie Database, this is a Wes Anderson film, and as such is to be held to a certain standard. Well, according to SOME. A lot of the Wes Anderson fanatics on the site disliked this film immensely, preferring his "Royal Tannenbaums" or "Rushmore". For the record, I don't generally follow directors, with the possible exception of Tim Burton and a couple others. So I had no clue the same guy directed all three, which I have seen. I liked Rushmore a LOT. Royal Tannenbaums left me cold. I watch movies primarily for entertainment, not critique. And I was HIGHLY entertained by TLA.

A lot of people finally came out on IMDB and said they also thought TLA was a very funny, enjoyable film. So see it for yourself and DECIDE for yourself. Don't listen to others.

I liked a LOT about it. It WAS different. Touches like CGI critters, unusual filming and totally wacked dialogue kept me going, wanting more more more. I'm also an old fan of Jacques Coustou and his films, and the deliberate reference in style to his documentaries was great.

We came in about 5 minutes late, so we'll be renting it on DVD when it comes out to see those first few scenes, and to enjoy any extras.

I can't wait to see it!

Totally forgot to mention - while watching it, we were enjoying the kinda "video game" sounding soundtrack. We were pleasantly surprised to see in the credits that Mark Mothersbaugh, formerly of Devo, did the soundtrack.
