so I bought the new DM disc yesterday and I like it alot, much better than their last album, Exciter.

I'm suprised no one else has mentioned it yet. Most of the reviews I've read have been favorable. Definately alot more guitars than the other DM albums, it's sort of a rock n roll record.

Favorite songs:

Precious (sounds like classic DM, could have been on Violator)

Lilian (a rock song)

Nothing's Impossible (the gothiest song on the album, I suppose)

Suffer Well (another rock song, heavy on psuedo blues riffs)

the only thing it lacks is a classic Martin Gore ballad, even Exciter had a few of those.

I was noticing the guitar in enjoy the silence, this morning on the way to work and appreciating the tone of it.

I haven't heard the new album yet, though.

I've heard it's awesome.. just havn't had the $$ to pick it up yet. It's on the list though next payday! I'm excited!

Exciter was well.. not very exciting. I much prefered Ultra for the more new stuff.

I have said those exact words!!!

The new album rocks. I like all the songs on it. I can't name them yet, I don't have the list in front of me and I'd have to listen to all as I list!

Nerdcore told me via Yahoo! messenger that she liked it.

"A pain Im used to" wil be the next cd single out dec 12..

Those are the songs I enjoy at the moment. I'm sure in a few months I will love the entire album.

I'm not crazy about A Pain That I'm Used To. Yeah, it's crunchy!!! That thing they do in it...my ears are not crazy for it, but the stuff in the middle is good. :grin

you like the same ones I do. I am really liking this album more and more with every listen.

Alot of people seem to like Macro but I can't get into it. I also don't like the very last song much.

I'd say this album is better than Exciter, Songs of Faith and Devotion and a few of the earlier ones but not as good as Black Celebration, Violator, Some Great Reward and Ultra. So it fits somewhere in the middle, and that's pretty good for Depeche Mode because even their weaker albums are pretty good. I still liked a few songs off Exciter such as "I Feel Loved", "When the Body Speaks", "Goodnight Lovers" and "I am you".

My favorite albums are Music for the Masses, Black Celebration, Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion (Higher Love is my fav with In Your Room as #2).

I like the guitar remix of In Your Room, it also has a remix of Higher Love on the CD single for In Your Room.

Music for the Masses was massively popular and I like it, but not as much as the others, but "I want you now" was great, as was "Little 15". There is an awesome bootleg remix of "Things you said" called the Black Mix (I think) which is one of my all time favorites. The videos for the songs on Music for the Masses were great.

Favorite DM tunes:

Here is the House

Enjoy the Silence

I feel Loved

Precious

Sea of Sin

Happiest Girl

Any Second Now (voices)

Get the Balance Right

In Your Room (guitar version)

If you leave

Bizarre Love triangle

Chains of Love

West end Girls

ok so the last few weren't really Depeche Mode songs, sorry!

by the way, Playing the Angel will debut on the Billboard album charts at #7

which is the 5th straight top ten album for Depeche Mode (in the U.S.). Songs of Faith and Devotion was their only #1 album in the U.S.

New album is great! I like Precious and Lillian the most. Depeche Mode have really revolutionized a lot of the music many of us listen to. I wish I could get floor seats to their show. I saw them with Nitzer Eb during their violator tour. It was a fun show. I was thinking of writing an upbeat electro cover of little 15 (kinda like stalker)or something else. Any suggestions?

I feel the same way about those songs in about the exact same order. "A Pain that I'm Used to" seems like it's mixed really poorly. The really loud part is REALLY FREAKING LOUD. Overall, a good album. I still like their 80's stuff the most. C'mon folks, "Black Celebration"? How goth is that? :wink

Not to brag or anything, but I've got 4th row back for the show at the Palace (okay, maybe I want to brag a little.) Hope to meet/see some of you there!

I picked it up yesterday! I LOVE every song onit! Wow... it's really speaking to me lately regarding my personal life too. What a wonderful, comforting find!

Precious is such a gorgeous song.

And the video makes it even better.

Seriously...... I want to cry every time I watch it, it's that beautiful. ;;___;;
