phee Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 There are always bands that you listen to that you find amazing that others either haven't heard of, or simply haven't given a chance, or worst of all don't like for no good reason, just curious as to what some of yours are? Here are some of mine: Dance or Die: Some of the most amazing and well programmed electro industrial ever.... Why don't more people like this band???? Godflesh: Some of the most crushing heavy and dark sounding guitar industrial ever, so many bands have ripped their sound off, and most people haven't even heard of them....WHY?
Guest Game of Chance Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Pigface...its the industrial all-star band for crying out loud...why is it that so many people younger than me (and I'm not THAT old...am I?) have never heard of them Ruby...omfg she's great...and so hot Blonde Redhead...I described them to someone as Sonic Youth meets the Beatles...on acid more to come.
phee Posted November 5, 2005 Author Posted November 5, 2005 I like Pigface... I have not heard of Ruby? Do you have any links...?

phee Posted November 5, 2005 Author Posted November 5, 2005 Here is another: The Band "Snog" they are an amazing and original band from Australia, combining electronic industrial music, with like Leanord Cohen like vocals, and southwestern guitars. Very political subject matter.

Fierce Critter Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 I'm having trouble thinking "underrated" vs. "unpopular". I like a lot of bands that were never really popular. But I can't think of any that might be known AND unappreciated. Maybe Crowded House? Neil Finn wrote some of the most beautiful ballads (Into Temptation), interesting arrangements (Kill Eye), etc. Just didn't catch on in the U.S., and died after 4 albums. =( I could go out on a limb and mention Cheap Trick, too. A friend once mentioned how Rick Neilsen has a genius instinct for just the right guitar part at just the right time. Tom Petersson often played 12-string bass, pioneered it as a matter of fact. Robin Zander has a voice that easily & well translates from soft ballad to screaming metal - occasionally in the same song. I often prefer album cuts to singles from them. "Mandocello" from their first album is gorgeous. I hated "Gonna Raise Hell" at first, but can really dig it at the right moment now. Sure, they were popular at one time. And they put out more than their share of absolute crap albums - just horrible dreck. But when they're good, they're great, in the true sense of the word. I know - goth board. I don't give a crap. :grin
