What's up with German toilets?

I've visited both Berlin and Frankfurt and do not recall encountering the German shelf toilet. From the description in the article, I'm glad I did not have to deal with one of these plumbing wonders.

Why can't I be mean like those German women and force men to sitzpinkel? I'd never have to watch for sprinkles ever again.

I've seen said German toilets and the lil suckers are absolutely attrocious. However, true WC's are the ones to really see in action, so to speak.

Hmm, I don't remember toilets like this in germany, but I was only at hotels, and not residences.

I mean, I've seen some weird-ass links on DGN during my time here. But sometimes I really really wonder "Where in the hell did they find this page?" (Should the burning question be "Why in the hell do people make pages for this sort of stuff?")

Having visited germany twice now (i'd say it was for the culture but it was for sex)

I cant remember noticing these things. Guess i was to , er, occupied with other things to notice.

I do remember oddly shaped eletrical outlets and the fact that i constantly had to remind myself that the water comes with carbination by default unless you ask for it without.
