nvayne Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 My ears have closed up... not sure if it was from the chemo or I got an infection. Where can you safely and not too expensively get them pierced anymore? When I was little a jewelry stand in the mall did it, but I haven't seen that in ages and wonder at how safe it was then. nvayne who misses her bobbles
Hermine Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 I can tell you that ear guns are bad. They can't be sterilized. This one place near me gave a whole assload of people hepatitis with a contaminated ear gun. Go to a proper piercer or a doctor. It's worth it.
Brenda Starrr Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 I agree with Hermine on this one. Find a reputable piercer and have them do it. Make sure that you see EVERYTHING come out of a fresh/sterile package.
nvayne Posted January 11, 2005 Author Posted January 11, 2005 doctors? so see a dermatologist? I wanted to avoid the piercing shops because I assume they would want a lot... I think a friend got pierced through her lip for $50.
Head Wreck Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 some models can be sterilised. but some less repuatble places stiill use the ones that cant.
Ginevra Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 If you can deal with the pain, home piercing is always an option. Then you can be sure of the sterility of the items being used as well as where they came from. As barbaric as it may sound, my first earring holes were done by my grade school librarian with some ice (for numbing) and a large gauge sewing needle. My second one on one side was done with a self-piercing earring and the other side's second was done with a piercing gun. NEVER will I ever do another piercing gun EVER.
Hermine Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Actually, check prices at piercing studios. Can't hurt to ask and the prices vary by difficulty. Earlobes aren't that hard to do, I don't think, so it might not be too bad.

Make sure that you see EVERYTHING come out of a fresh/sterile package. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am not sure where you are located and you may have already found the right place but my reg family doc now offers ear piercing but they still use a gun. I do have a friend here in michigan (macomb county) who is really sterile who does all kinds of body piercings if ya want the info i will give it just dont want to post all his personal info on here
Hermine Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 Nvayne: let us know how it works out. Lestat and Lilith: Hey, if you're in touch with this guy, maybe you could get a price quote from him for Nvayne. That might help her decide what to do.

I personally have had this guy pierce my clit, eye brow (hubbys eyebrow as well) redone my belly button, my lip, watched him pierce many others and for a small time i was his "personal model" at shows and events he has attended. He is very very steriale (clean) he is almost a fnatic about it but in this day n age thats cool he has a home studio but is capable of travleing for events and parties hes a good guy like said with the home studio thing, it is his personal info witthe web n everythig i am not comfy just posting it but if any one you want to email im me i will be happy to give you his info as long as you let him know harmony sent ya for piercing. hope this helps harm
Soulrev Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 yeah don't mess around with piercing guns, aside from health reasons they don't pierce you the correct way. They push the extra flesh to the side and you'll get a permanent lump (I have one in my ear from my first piercing, before I knew better) next to the hole. It's very important to have it done the right way with a hollow needle that actually removes that extra flesh instead of stuffing it off to the side. If I weren't 1,300 miles away I could do piercings, I've got clamps and needles and have pierced my friends.. Still can't work it up to pierce myself, have to have someone else do it for me.
honeymustard02 Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 I've had all my ears pierced at the mall. They were all done with a gun. BUT the earring did the piercing not a needle. Then the thing holding the earring came out and the gun was cleaned and then they could put the new earring in. I have never had it done any other way and I have never had any problems with them. Well except for the ones I did to myself But that's another story.
