detroitrequiem Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Ok so d:konstruct will finally be playing out again in 2006 and I need to improve my front man image on stage. What's an old goth boy like myself to do to look a little more sexy on stage and a lot less like Big Boy without the overalls and suspenders? Should I go hard core like the old days of make up and all, monster boots, pvc, etc? Or more conservative like Covenant or Depeche Mode with dress coats, slacks, etc. Ladies and gents I need an extreme make over!
unchaste Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 I have on word for you, hon: LEATHER.:laughing Seriously, though, go however you feel most comfortable, be it t-shirt & jeans or vinyl & feathers.
Onyx Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 I agree - I was going to post leather before I even read what unchaste posted. A nicely cut black leather jacket is hot on anyone. A long leather trench coat - even better. I like vampire style capes on men too, but I'm silly and dramatic like that I don't think you can go wrong with a leather coat or jacket though. -- and boots! Good boots.
Guest Megalicious Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 I think the dress coats and slacks are so sexy...... ... =)
Brenda Starrr Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 A sock. No, not really. I think a black leather trench coat, fishnet shirt, and black pants would be hot.
detroitrequiem Posted November 21, 2005 Author Posted November 21, 2005 "A sock" lol I enjoyed that one. Too bad IM not one of the red hot chili peppers:) Thanks everyone! Have a nice thanksgiving
Homicidalheathen Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Noir and hot topic? Pleather pants.....cool gothic shirts.....boots..... Most of my band mates look like shit on stage. Baggy jeans and tshirts. So anything other than that is great. And NO BASEBALL CAPS PLEASE! Especially turned backwards like Fred Durst.
Brenda Starrr Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 A leather kilt and a sock. Definitely nice boots.
detroitrequiem Posted November 21, 2005 Author Posted November 21, 2005 Ive got these big black leather boots from Noir. They cost me almost $300. They make me stand about 6ft3 and they look like something KISS would wear. Ive also got this $275. jacket thats a silver gold mix. Its very cyberish. I also have a few pairs of vinyl pants which I dont wear much but are very tight on me and a few goth velvet shirts. I used to have a black gothic skirt, but some guys look good in a skirt. I do not:) There is a gothic velvet dresscoat at Showtime downtown that I was gonna buy. It has a very strong vampiric feel to it. Whats a boy to wear? eyeliner or no? Should I go glam?
unchaste Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Yes to the eyeliner! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Definetly.
Steven Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Man have i been in this conundrum lately too Bud ( I too sing lead). Most important: wear whatever yoru feeling. The last thing on earth you want is to feel self conscious onstage because it comes out in your performance. Be YOU in the moment. If thats jeans and Tshirt then fine - do it well. If its Goth then do that well. No rules buddy..... thats what Pop Music is for..... Steven
Saephyr Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 a knee high would be too hot! Naw... Eyeliner = YES No black shirts - women like to see the singer wear somethingother than shadow Jacket = man those lights will cook your ass but they look great No jewelry Did you buy New Rock boots? the pricetag sounds like them. :fear too big for me but the height is great What about your hair?
Homicidalheathen Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Glam is good just don't over do it like Manson. NO titties on boys ok?
detroitrequiem Posted November 22, 2005 Author Posted November 22, 2005 I bought the boots there a few years back. They have large leather straps and thick heels. I was probably gonna spike my hair up like I always do. Any other suggestions?
detroitrequiem Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 I used to do the whole robert smith haircut in high school but I dont think that works for me anymore. Its difficult to do much with your hair when your a school teacher:)
Saephyr Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I'd just tie it straight back when you're living in mandane life. Why you no message me no more DR?
detroitrequiem Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 my apologies, I have no excuse for not emailing you. How have you been feeling?
Saephyr Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 my apologies, I have no excuse for not emailing you. How have you been feeling? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> :whistling nevermind that... So whatcha gonna wear baby?
kellygrrrrrl Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I could see you with some slicked back hair - kind of like the greaser look? White tee shirt, Jeans with cuffs rolled up a little white ankle socks, black shiney shoes or a pair of Allstars. Maybe some suspenders? Studded belt? You have dark hair a a large build and would look intimidating as a Greaser - rockabilly type?
detroitrequiem Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 hmmm..... never thought about a rock a billy look. I havent wore jeans in forever. I think it's time to do some serious shopping. I've always felt it was hard to be a big guy like myself and maintain a sexy look. I've also thought that its not what you wear but how you wear things. These are all great suggestions. Thanks everyone!
Steven Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Old style gangster (talking Al Capone style) would be pretty bitchen too - you need some fo those white and black wingtip shoes and some cool old suits - that would come off pretty cool onstage dude.
