Steven Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Just thinking about how those of us who love to create music might be able to get togethor and share talent and or resources for upcoming projects. I personally, dont play the guitar (or any instrument) well enough to carry a song and stay in time, and ultimately I've always been the lead vocalist in my bands in LA and in the studio because that's my particular gift, I'm a singer. And, I admit aht I've also had people in my bands rip the guitar out of my hands and simply say "STOP IT". (so I did) I come from essentially a Los Angeles "rock" background which I'm proud of - but I've also been frustrated by it - as I love many different types of music and would very much love to experiment with things much more ethreal/electronic in nature - or very stripped down and bare bones in sort of in acoustic the singer/songwriter vibe, Or - something rock but vary sparse and groove oriented in the vein of The Cult during their "Electric" album Or - something that is a combination of all of the above. Like I've said to freinds before... if I could combine The Cult with The Sisters with Zepplin then I'd have my dream band. Anyway, I need to get off my butt and start doing something musical again, I miss singing and writing, and I love co-creating with other people as opposed to trying to control everything and therefore being extremely boring and one dimensional. I no longer have any PA equipment. I dont own recording equipment (or know how to use it) I sold a beautiful red semi hollow body guitar and amp last month because Lilly (my cat) got really really sick and I was broke. I do however own a fine quality Bic ball point pen and can use it to write with someone or a bunch of someones...... ANy Ideas????? Steven
Guest Game of Chance Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 I'm always down for jammin and know a ton of other musicians...hit me up in a PM
Marblez Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 ANy Ideas????? Steven <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'll karaoke with ya anytime. Unfortunately, I also do not play any other instruments, so karaoke is about the best you and I together can do. Lemme know if your ultimate project could use a female voice once in a while.
Guest Game of Chance Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 A friend of mine and I are going to start a band called Spookwop... She's black...I'm Italian...and we are looking for other black or italian band members...

soothsayer Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 I've played guitar and bass for 20 years. I'd be up for jammin and I can play many many styles fluently. PM me sometime.
mauraway Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 people either take me for Middle Eastern or Italian, and I am the lowly non spanish speaking yet proud Mexican American. Hi, I've been looking for people to play music with. Anyone will do. My transportation situation limits me to A2 though. For more info: http://www.umich.edu/~mauraway/playwithme.html I'm also planning to get a bass flute soon. On a side note, I'm Middle Eastern but often get mistaken for Italian. Usually people say something rude when I tell them where my dad is from, so I usually keep my mouth shut on that subject.

Sorry but since I'm still pretty new to Michigan - I have no clue what A2 is, althoug I've heard it referenced before.... I imagine its somewhere out yonder??? And finnally - I love Middle Eastern food, music, and smoking Hookah (tobacco you wacko's...I'm officially weed retired) and getting to know people of all types and cultures, you'd be welcome in my world.....
Homicidalheathen Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 I have total recording capabilities but I think your all to far away to get together with on a regular basis.

Steven Posted December 11, 2005 Author Posted December 11, 2005 all we need is a drummer then.....or a programmer to make drums....
mauraway Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 I have no "actual" drums [which im sure my neighbors are happy about], but I do like drumming. Ever seen the snare drummer chicks who tour with Laibach, that is something I'd love to do. Or bang on chunks of metal ala the old Detroit band Batterie Acid, or something tympani-like. As for A2 , it's Ann Arbor [about an hr west of downtown Detroit].
Kiss The Midget Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 i have a drum set, been drumming for a long time, but like HH said you all live a million miles away.
Guest Game of Chance Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Just pointing out this isn't DCC <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good call...I just noticed that...I'm sure Steven meant DGN...
Scary Guy Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Good call...I just noticed that...I'm sure Steven meant DGN... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I noticed it yesterday, but I just didn't say anything cause I didn't think it was important. I FAIL BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS IMPORTANT.
Steven Posted December 12, 2005 Author Posted December 12, 2005 wow, you guys are right, I did say DCC. didint mean it though. forgive........
Homicidalheathen Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 We have pretty much anything you need to sound like a band. Electronic or accoustic. Oh and my man plays keys. Right now we do electronic drums. I am at 14 and Gratiot and sometimes we work with people through email only as I have cakewalk. Its kinda funny....you can write with people you never even meet these days.
Steven Posted December 17, 2005 Author Posted December 17, 2005 you mentioned cakewalk. is that expensive and how does it work in regard to recording and editing online???
