Yes Mr. Chance what do you mean by "Goth"?

As in the original music that spawned from the punk scene. I would also include Industrial Music. I am not yet accepting EBM as specifically goth music.

Also, I am the judge and the final authority. :p

I'm inclined to agree w/ your definition.

I do think that there is a world of difference between the Gothic music of that time period and the Goth scene today....it's a matter of evolution and i think today's music that is considered acceptable to be played/popular bears little resemblance to yesteryear in most definitions. Maybe the spirit lives on (which is more the spirit of punk and deathrockers than anything else) but it's wrapped up in EL wire and synthetic hair extensions.

Times change, and everything else changes as well.

Blutengel (2002 and previous, anyway)

ASP

Samsas Traum (after his first album he got really good)

Die Form (1990-2000 era)

The Cure (up until 2000, after that they lost my interest)

Joy Division

Ikon

Diary of Dreams

Diorama

In Strict Confidence (they've got the former Chandeen singer Antje Schultz now!)

Angelzoom

L'Âme Immortelle

Unheilig

Eisbrecher

Umbra et Imago

So yeah, I do like some Goth bands still.
