Fierce Critter Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Just freaking curious. Our budget is slim, and my family is hard to buy for. But here's what I got people: Jon and I don't exchange gifts, we just scrape $$ together and go on an annual spending spree and have a hell of a good time. I bought myself a corset, and might be getting a pair of boots and a top or two. Jon's going for a camera. My oldest sister is getting some handmade carvings made by Jon. My dad is getting custom-made pajamas. My mother is getting a Pope John Paul II calendar. My youngest sister is getting a Japanese dancer doll. My sister from Hillsdale and her husband are getting 9 .99 cent DVD movies My sister from Florida and her husband are getting a 20Q game. Howz 'bout you?
Crazed Vampyress Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 when i said i am having no christmas this year i meant it. im that broke. each paycheck i have to decide between gas for the car or food for me. so my list is as follows: My little brother - a 48-cent walmart card (sent with a stamp i bummed off a friend). My parents - a note to say 'hello' i stuffed inside my brother's card. Everyone else - nadda
Draco1958 Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Where did you get the Japanese dancer doll> My niece might like that. Half of my nieces gifts are recycled stuff. A sterling silver necklack I won in a claw game, it's worth $40 I found out. A small coffee table that I am repainting and decorating to match her like for Goth/Dark things/Asian flair of decorations. A like new jewelry box that has been in storage unused for years, looks like new. And a few other things. My buying list is quite small do to work hours constantly being dropped.
Fierce Critter Posted December 23, 2005 Author Posted December 23, 2005 The doll came from Burlington Coat Factory. They range in price from $8.00 to $18.00. They're repros of originals that I'm familiar with through ones I've purchased for her before. But they're exceptionally well done.

Homicidalheathen Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 I miss having little kids around. :confused Sure, I get to buy for the Grandkids......and watch them actually play with it for a couple hours but.....I miss the eyes being wide when they get up and first see the presents under the tree.......the discovery of all the neet little features of some of their toys.....the cute little noises coming out of their rooms for days after...... I get to give my teens what every teen wants these days......the gift of greed I call it. Money in a frickin card. Sure it is easy, but it sucks. Oh then I get to fight the after Christmas rush and take them shopping while they are in Hot Topic, I will be sitting on one of those benches in the mall next to some old guy no doubt who will want to talk to me about my blue hair or something. I did allot of online shopping. Blair for my parents......they always want clothes......same for me mum in law. Toys R us for the grandkids...... Money for the Stepson and wife......more greed.......so just not personal, but it is what they want.... My sis is easy. Amazon.com. My man just went online and ordered some Techno CD's so I won't even be getting him anything. He got me a vocal mixer at Guitar Center so I won't be opening anything either. But my throat will be better by then so I at least get to play with it finally and I AM SO EXCITED I could pee myself. This thing is awesome! I needed it for total control of my effects with the push of a foot pedal for live performing. For my brother in law out of state.....one of those food baskets. As usual. See? Kinda boring....not much to open or watch being opened......Christmas is definatly for kids.

saechalyn Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 I don't make a big thing out of holidays. I exchanged gifts with my roommates and got a last-minute present for my supervisor at work when I found out she got me something. That's it.
honeymustard02 Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 I made a set of candle holders. Needed Epsom Salt $2 for a 4lb bag Votive holder $.44 School glue $.25 a bottle You take the candle holder, cover it in a thin layer of glue. Then you pour the salt over it to get an even coating. Let dry. Then you put any kind of little candle you like in it and light. It looks like frosted glass. Tie some ribbon or whatever you want on there and TADA!!!! Homemade easy gift. Great for kids.

Ginevra Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 The SO - well, don't want to say since he peruses these boards sometimes :D His Mom - A nostalgic DVD collection that includes Bob Hope movies and TV episodes of I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, Dick VanDyke, and a couple other black and whites. His sister - 2 nice bath sets in two different fragrances. His niece - 2 educational! computer games My neighbor - a handmade tree ornament that looks similar to the photo below minus the white beads on the pins and the sequins are about a quarter of the size in the photo: The lady that I sit for who is a good friend of mine: a dragonfly bracelet as shown below: Her boyfriend: A track jacket and a nice merino wool sweater. (Both from the clearance rack at Target. heh) This is the first year I've really been able to give gifts or not have to piggyback with someone else. I splurged a lot this year and while my pocket is crying over being gouged, well, I just hope everyone likes what I chose for them.
Draco1958 Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 Where did you find that bracelet, it's really sweet.
Ginevra Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 For those interested, the bracelet in my previous post is from The Pyramid Collection. Dragonflies are my friend's favourite thing and her boyfriend got her an amber dragonfly necklace earlier this year, so this bracelet just sort of jumped out at me.
honeymustard02 Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 You know I thought of trying to dye the salt different color. I was thinking of using chalk. Ever do those layer sand things as a kid? We did them with salt and rubbed chalk in them to grind it up and make differnt colors. We couldn't really afford the color sand. If anyone tries anything with coloring the salt let me know how it works out. =)
sass_in_the_pants Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 I just finished last night! Here are my big scores: Okay, so you know those girls on mudflaps, the silhouette ones? Well, my sis is pregnant and I found a t-shirt with a prego mudflap girl! Ha! And my new niece or nephew (we'll know in a few months) will be getting its very first biker jacket! It says Harley on the back and everything! It's so effing adorable! I got dad the book by John McCain. He's going to love it. And my friend L, she is getting a tiara, because, well, doesn't everyone need a tiara? Everyone else just got pretty standard stuff.
