Possibly... right now, he's just getting started. Those are his first 2 pieces.

The one on the left he did just having seen some pieces by others, without instruction. The 2nd one he did after reading a book on it. That one is supposed to be like the ruins of a city - all windows, bits of roofing, blackened chimneys, etc.

Eventually, he'll combine techniques - but the issue is supply. There are more than one type of cottonwood tree out there, and thusfar what he's finding is the thinner bark - hard to do 3-d things like roofs. He needs thicker cottonwood - Eastern, if I recall correctly.

That looks like something he should consider pursuing...I'd look at buying some Cottonwood as an investment. Or sell those two pieces and use the cash to fund more supplies.

Those two pieces are going to my sister as a gift.

They sell the bark on eBay, at insane prices.

Not that i know when such trees shed.... But with some research you could find where they are located and when they shed.. plan a nice little trip with a romantic Basket Lunch head out to the forest and fill up the back of the truck wth Bark. Might make for a fun get away one day. =)
