i'm having a very hard time here.

two of my very favoritest authors are on the list (Gaimen and Barker)

Lovecraft is almost too scary to be goth

Oh, well... that makes a bit more sense... Then again, a 5 year old can make more sense than Nietzsche. (I'm not a fan. Infact, I think he should have been locked up in a mental institute and never let out.)

Robert Browning.

Among other things, he wrote the poem, "Porphyria's Lover".

Of the choices that are given, I must vote Poe, Poe and only Poe.

Poe, I think was just like Shakesphere..tragic and gloomy. Where H.P. was damned angry with his own fears and threw them into stories and prose so exorcise them I would guess. Who can HATE the sea and all it's creatures so much? It's odd. Poe...he was tragic and referring to lost love, lost causes and the like.

Merriam Webster says:

Gothic - adj. ~ of or pertaining to a style of literature characterized by a gloomy setting, mysterious, sinister, or violent events, and, in contemorary fiction, an imperiled heroine

Poe being alive from 1809-1849

H.P. from 1890 - 1937

I guess by the numbers it would make Poe the king in the way of being the elder of the 2 reining champs thus far :fear :bow:bravo

(Anyway, Poe was an absinthe drinkin fool ...yey!)

I never got the impression that he Hated the sea... more that he had sort of a powerful respect and fear for it's power... maybe he realized that 70% of the earth is actually water, but most people act like its not....

Poe. He lived the goth lifestyle. He lived morbidly, wrote morbid stories and poems and died a morbid death.

LeFanu is another morbid goth author.

I chose other, and am going with Goethe. (pronounced Ger-teh)

I would explain it, but... *warning, cop-out alert*... it's beyond explaining.
