Robert Browning.

Among other things, he wrote the poem, "Porphyria's Lover".

I had to write 4 page paper on that poem for college, i wrote about how it wasnt a man killing his lover, but a women have a multiple personality and realizing it, trying to kill of the other side....very fight club esc. I think i got a 2.5 on it along with a confused look by the teacher. lol

This is true...

I have always found poe a bit overdramatic and a bit over inflated.... but I guess that is indeed very GOTH

I never got the impression that he Hated the sea... more that he had sort of a powerful respect and fear for it's power... maybe he realized that 70% of the earth is actually water, but most people act like its not....

O hmy yes. He hated the sea, seafood and everything having to do with it. In a lecture I was told that he was indeed afraid of it but it was more of a paranoia than a fear. Everything he creates from it in his stories does kind of dictate that he dislikes the salt water bodies. All his creations are gortesque and other-worldly.

I personally find them irresistable :woot:

Hey Shelley is no slump. She was damned smart and did an incredible job in her writings and I give her all the credit in the world.

I agree... but this was not a "best gothic writer" but a "most gothic writer" I think Shelly was definitly a better writer then Poe

You don't think they were 2 different kinds of writing?
